dish pay as go plan

Hello have a question about dish pay as you go plans. First I do not have dish at home otherwise I would pay the $7.00 for the extra service and save $$. My question is that is a monthly service and you can start, stop when you don't need it. Say had a 3 day trip planned and started service got home and turned it off would I still pay for the month or is a 30 day deal?

I heard people do that so that don't pay for the whole month, not worth to me to pay only few days here or there in a month.

Thanks,

I just take the receiver from my house and pay nothing. I do sometimes call to change my locals at no charge.

I believe Dish has a mobile only plan... last I knew, it was $35/mo.

You DO NOT call them to pause or suspend the account. That will result in a monthly $10 "Maintenance Fee" to keep the account active. What you do is call them and tell them to CANCEL or DISCONNECT your service. The wording you use is critical to getting a credit for the unused portion of your prepaid month. Then you will receive a remaining balance credit on your account against the charges when you want to restart your service or your can ask for a refund of your credit balance. I have done it this way for the past 10 years and never paid for more than the partial month I used.

I have never paid any fees to put the account on hold, regardless of what word I use.

There is no reactivation fee. Since it's a prepaid plan, you start with the full amount every time you activate the receiver. And for those of you that have paid an entire month just to use the service, you overpaid. Call Dish when you're done with the service and put the service on hold. Don't let the company burn through through your unused money.

Agree, that's how I do it... the poster above me stated that they "pause" it after each weekend.... I was always told that pausing will create an activation fee? I will try to call again..

Some people are being knowingly mislead by Dish employees or some employees are not aware how the plan works. A friend just went through this a few days ago when he signed up for the first time. I was there to help him set up the Wally, Winegard Playmaker antenna and his account. At first, he was told the service would run for 30 days and he would have to pay again when he wanted to activate the receiver again. This is NOT true! Nobody in his right mind would ever sign up for plans that start at $48 to watch TV for only a weekend, or even a week.

When you set up an account, you will give Dish a credit card or debit card that will be used to replenish the account as needed. The lowest programming package costs $48/mo and it offers about 50 cable channels. The only 'news' channel included in the basic package is CNN. For an additional $12 bucks you will get 'local' channels. There is a nifty Dish app that allows you to activate service without having to call. The app will also automatically change the 'local' channels to where you are.

To activate service, call Dish or use the app to activate the Wally. When done with the service, regardless if you used the service for 3 days or 15, call Dish and tell them to put your Dish Outdoors service on hold or suspense. Make sure to tell them you're not closing the account, you're only putting the service on hold. Unfortunately, the app does not allow you to put the service on hold, you must call.

Going forward, this is how the service works: Let's say you signed up for the cheapest $48/mo plan. You use the service for 3 days and then call Dish to put the service on hold. When you restart service again, you will be required to add another $4.80 to your account to bring it back up to $48. If use it for 15 days you will be required to add $24, and so on next time you reactivate the service. Bottom line is Dish will always have some of your money in its possession. Personally, I don't care since is only a small amount. Just remember, you will be required to bring up your account to full every time you reactivate the receiver. And don't let anyone tell you you have to pay for a full month when you're only going to use the service for a few days.

Interesting..... I will need to verify that.. I have been told by a few of them... ( mostly from over seas ) that IF PAUSED, I would pay an activation fee each time ??>??

Since we have Dish in the sticks and bricks we only pay $5 per month for the same programming as at home.

So it is 30 day thing, whether I use for 3 days or 30 days. I can't add different times to equal 30 days.
Thanks
