Dish RV

I have DISH Network at home and just received a portable dish and receiver for our trailer. Is it possible to use it on your home account and how? We had initially planned to pay as we go but have decided to change to dish for home. Any ideas because the guy at Dish didn't even know they had portable satellite other than the tailgater.

Get a Winegard Pathway X2 automatic dish from Amazon... you will be one happy camper.

^^^ X2 ^^^ I pay the extra $7 bucks so I don't have to disconnect and reconnect. We use our RV frequently, so we'd be changing all the time.

If you plan on using your receiver from home, make sure it's compatible with the portable dish you use in the RV.

For our dish, we use the Winegard Pathway X2. For the receiver, we use the VIP211 which is compatible with the Pathway X2.

If you plan to get Dish at home just have them add the RV to the same account for an extra $7 per month. We have had Dish at home for many years. 3 years ago I bought a new receiver and tripod mounted portable dish for the RV and added it to the home account. I did not want to have to move a receiver back and forth between the house and RV every time we traveled. Bought a Tailgater later to make it all easier.

You are paying for the receiver; it can be connected to any satellite. For example, we have fixed Dish satellite on roof and portable Tailgater satellite for RV. We use the same receiver at home at for travel. (Note that only certain receivers models will work with Tailgater satellite.)
