For several months I have wondered what has happened to some of my music. I assume that one of the Windows 7 updates have done something to my WMA files. This may have happened many months ago.
The message I get when I try to play a .wma file is: "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct." Many of the .wma files are tunes I previously copied from CD that I have since given away. (dont have room to store CD's.)
For years I have been able to play these .wma's. No more. My MP3's play fine. I have found programs to convert .wma files to .mp3 but they all require my transferring the .wma file to another program that I could download but I get a message that I am not authorized to access this file.
I have inquired on google to help me fix this problem but so far I have come up empty handed. If you have any ideas please indicate what I might try.
