I had the new 16-tuner Hopper 3 installed last Saturday. Very impressive. I'll have more details lated, especially for RVers.

In the meantime, here's some details from my Hopper 3 install . . . keep in mind that it's pretty nerdy.

2010 - 2021 Full Timer (41โ€™ 2001 Newmar Mountain Aire 4095 DP - Cummins)
2021 - ??? Part Timer (31โ€™ 2001 National RV Sea View 8311 - Ford)

For the Hopper 3, I'll let you know in a week when I test my H3 on a modified Travler.

However, I did test the new Dish Hybrid Pro Western Arc LNBF on my Travler connected to a Hopper with Sling (or "Hopper 2") -- it worked just fine. Details here.

Did you put the antenna up and down to see if it would lock on or was this down with the antenna up and locked on?

The Hopper 3 must be disconnected from the Travler when the Travler is in operation. Once the Travler has acquired the sats, the Hopper 3 can be reconnected. Using an AB switch makes it easy to connect/reconnect.

If the Hopper 3 is left connected while the Travler looks for sats, there's a good chance you'll get the Blue Screen of Death -- "No LNB Voltage".

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

TechWriter: I'm supposed to have the Hopper 3 installed Friday at my home with 5 joey 2.0's. If I have a Travler dish on my RV, can I use just the joey, or do I have to use the Hopper 3? Thanks

Nope. Joeys can't operate alone.

Did you have to pay to upgrade to the Hopper 3?

Upgrade cost varies: $0 to $150. I paid $0.

Did the reduction in Hoppers lower your monthly bill?

By $10. I went from three Hoppers to one Hopper 3 + 2 Joey 2.0s,

Do they require the tech to come out to change over?

Yep -- and a good thing, too. Would not want to self-install a Hopper 3 just yet.
