Microsoft Word/Office issues???

I have for the past 6 years used Microsoft word/office to list classmates and have the listing in my documents.
Now when I bring up the list for the documents I can not make changes
to it. I receive a notification that this copy of Microsoft Word/Office is for corporate or institutional customers.
How do I get the old listing of Microsoft Word/Office back so I can make changes?

You don't mention anything else about your computing environment, but if you are a Google user at all (have a gmail account) then Google Docs will easily solve your problem. It will open any Word document and has an interface very like any Word-like app. And it is free.

Sorry, I missed that. Great price! But I'd still take Libre first. :B

Libre would be my next choice but darsben1 has a pretty cheap MS Office option if you want to give MS more money.
Looking closer, it appears that that MS Office deal is for a subscription. Microsoft has mangled Office so badly that I can hardly stand using it anymore. I'd pick Libre or similar everytime.

No it is not a subscription it is a license pay fee one time only

Sounds a lot like the error my users get when they're fired. My enterprise licensing of office allows employees to install at home but it has a kill switch. Soon as you quit or get fired Microsoft pulls the plug.

I would recommend you try Libre Office Libreoffice will most likely open your Microsoft Word document without any problem.

LibreOffice is a powerful office suite โ€“ LibreOffice includes several applications that make it the most powerful Free and Open Source office suite on the market: Writer (word processing), Calc (spreadsheets), Impress (presentations), Draw (vector graphics and flowcharts), Base (databases), and Math (formula editing).

Did you buy Office outright?
Did it come with the computer?
Did you borrow a copy from work?

Where did your copy of Office come from?

It sounds like you need to undo permissions. This site has a few options for you to try. Good luck!

Can you open the document at all? Right-click on it and choose something besides Word to open it?

On my Mac, I can open just about anything in Preview; you may have other choices. Once you open it, save it to another format. RTF (Rich Text Format) is good; that should open in any word processing program. Open Office? Google Docs?

Good luck!
