Network Solutions unauthrozed debits

Here's a heads up on Network Solutions.

I bought a domain name for X amount of money.
This gave me an email address, website builder, and parked page and free personal hosting.

I clicked OFF for auto billing.

Today my bank account was debited for a hosting package I did NOT even sign up for. Of course I called them with what the heck is going on here?

I asked them to show me where I signed up for a 'Professional Hosting package' and how could they use my credit info when it was clearly marked off under auto billing?

I was told it was all in the privacy policy:?

Within the privacy policy they hide this:
They will charge you a monthly fee for a professional hosting package whether you sign up for it or not AND use your credit card information to do so and override your selection on auto billing.

Talk about deceptive business practices putting this type of unauthorized billing action within the privacy policy that sadly many of us do not read. Not to mention over riding no auto billing.

Apparently they know this is wrong because I told him it was deceptive and I wanted to cancel and wanted a full refund. Which they did without any question.

Go figure. Now we have to go thru the entire privacy policy to find out if they are going to debit our bank account for products we have NOT purchased?

It's not perfect, but to say it's asking for trouble is a bit much.
Different stokes for different folks. If it works for you and meets your comfort level then that's great. I just never saw the need to give anyone the ability to withdraw from my bank account.

Because of what happened to the OP. Giving anyone permission to go into your bank account to withdraw is inherently dangerous. All of my utilities are on a budget plan and I have auto-PAY not auto-WITHDRAW from my account set up. Big difference.

All our utilities, cable etc are automatically taken from our account.
Never a late payment, no paper waste.

Thanks for the heads up!

NOTE TO ALL !!!

This was properly written post.
Not a long winded rant.

The OP add issues, he had it corrected then warned others.

Big reason I use GoDaddy . I have been given the gears by Network Solutions in the past.

x2

I was with GoDaddy for 8 years.

When I went full time it took me a couple of months to get settled in and get down to business to taking care of all my accounts while RV'ing via computer.

I got mad at them when they held my domains hostage because they had expired. (for what it's worth at least they respected the NO auto billing box checked!)

When I called to make the late payment they wanted over 250.00 to get my domains back. I was not happy about that policy. So to show them I switched to Network.

I guess the jokes on me for getting mad . Will be setting up my accounts back at GoDaddy this morning.

You allow businesses to debit your bank account? Charge a limited use credit card like Shop Safe yes, but I would never allow a debit to my bank account. But then I would never carry a debit card either.

But I agree what NS did is not right. Every time I log on they try to sell me an add-on before I can manage my account. I would never use them again.
