New truck technology!

Dreaming of a new truck with all the tech goodies.
As a non techie....who recently got a smart phone...
Why can't the trucks use the info from a smart phone on nav display? Why would we have to subscribe to a second data plan to see info such as weather, gas stations, points of interest.
It's all on the phone. Shouldn't we be able to blue tooth the phone screen to the nav screen?Apparently we can stream music from phone, why not everything.
Or is it simply a matter of more companies wanting a $.
Oh yeah, I AM too cheap for duplicate info plans.:)
