Portable satelitte antennas

Given the advancements that occur daily with electronics I would like input from recent purchasers of a portable Sat antenna. I am currently leaning towards a Winegard Anser but after using a manual antenna for years I am wondering if having to set the azimuth is consistent on this antenna. Should I purchase an Anser, a Carry-Out or another brand? All answers will be appreciated. My primary requirements are easy set-up and low price. Nothing could spoil my day more than having the manual dish fight me after a long day behind the wheel.

If we all waited for the next best greatest thing all we would be doing is waiting. I also do not see the need for HDTV. If you look at an HDTV and then out the window what you see on the screen is nothing like what is actually going on in the world. SD to me is much more life like.

I spoke with a tech from Winegard about new satellite receivers and what they can do and what they can't do. In short, they are working on a portable automatic satellite receiver that would receive the signal from Directv and it would be HD. If he is right, I would wait and see 1. If it is true 2. If it works and 3. How much are they asking for it.

The Pathway X2 also only uses a single cable (unless you hook up 2 receivers).

Plus, the X2 can acquire all of DISH's sats (110, 119, 129 & 61.5, 72, 77). So to me, this is the portable dish to use if you're traveling around the country.

The VueCube Flex 2100 can receive sats 110, 119, 129, and 61.5.

The Winegard Carryout G2 only receives 110, 119, and 129.

Remember, that the X2, Flex, G2, Tailgater, and Anser can only acquire one sat at a time (unlike the Winegard Travler or open-face tripod dishes like the 1000.2 or 1000.4) which makes them pretty useless with DISH DVR receivers.

I am happy with my Vuqube Flex 2100. Works with Dish HD or Directv SD.

The Winegard Carryout G2 would be a better choice in my opinion. The larger reflector means less rain fade issues, and it is compatible with Direct, Dish, and Bell, so it'll still work even if you change service providers. The one downside is the separate 12-volt power cable, but that's a minor issue I'd think.

X2 on the Pathway X2. I've had this system for about a year and a half and like it really well. Works much easier that when I had a manual antenna and set it up using either a tone finder or the TV menu.

Pathway X2 is for Dish according to all the literature I have seen.. We are DirecTV.

I think the ansur was updated to the Pathway X2? I have this system with two 211 receivers and it works great. Glad to ditch the tripod and 500 dish. The X2 locks on so easy. I set it up and go back inside knowing I will have TV in minutes.

I use this portable WINEGARD SAT DISH I picked up from a local RV dealer tore which has two ports on the SAT head. This is tethered to my truck bed which is where I set it up when at the camp site.

I have two runs of RG cable coiled up around the portable dish and a TONE TYPE SAT FINDER inserted in one of the RG cables. One RG cable goes to the SAT RCVR in the Living room and the econd RG cable goes to the SAT RCVR in the bedroom area. This is for standard SAT TV signals...

Being tethered to the truck make me secure the portable dish inside the truck bed when I leave the camp ground for any reason. Makes it more safe thief wise.



I don't have any problem setting this up using the settings from the SAT TV MENU for setting up round dishes.

I have used this setup for several years but after the NATL TV came out with DIGITAL HDTV we get better TV coverage from the local towns using our crank-up BATWING antenna and don't bring along the SAT TV much anymore.
