RV GPS..New Garmin delayed. Any recommendations?

We are planning a 6 wk + trip next month.
I have been waiting for the new Garmin 770 RV gps, but the release has been delayed.
I hate to wait until the last minute to buy something in case it becomes defective or some other problem before we leave.

Any ideas on other RV oriented gps?

I still see the Garmin 760 is still available at some places and also the 660.

Any opinions appreciated

Yes, I carry a real camera.

Thinking about getting a GoPro. My quadcopter can carry my camera but the front motors are almost maxed out with all that weight.

You have your computer(s) but you like your flip phone. If fitting in your pocket is the reason you have one of these dinosaurs no one will change your mind, but you might want to re-think what could best meet your technology requirements. I carry my camera on my hip in a very comfortable belt holster. Every now and then my camera rings and I have to talk to my family. The rest of the time my camera gets me to the closest Graninger, finds the locals favorite restaurants, gives me turn-by-turn directions to any business or POI I choose. It's so versatile that it also keeps track of the stock market, the price of gas, what's on at the movies, and so much more that the cost of the phone, oops, camera more than pays for itself. If you don't carry your own camera, you should not slam those that do, especially if you are as tech savvy as you seem to be.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Yawn.

There is no argument - if you want all that gadgety stuff then enjoy your smartphone gadget. I too have a flipphone - it fits better in my pocket.

Besides, I always have my computer(s) with me that will do that gadgety stuff way better than a phone.

I use the same Garmin Zumo 660 that I use on my motorcycle. I don't need a dedicated RV GPS.

We just got back from our 6 + wk traveling west to east coast and back. 9117 miles.

GPs worked ok, but led us on what I call "wild goose chases' about 11 times.

Always bring your maps and check routes before starting your engine....

You will like the new (refurbished) GPS I'm sure.. learn how to use its features and you'll have many happy times.. I've been running Garmin since the early 80s and they have continually made the product better..

We have smart phones too but it's hard for my wife to see hers to help me out when actually in motion driving down the road.. And it's not big enough for my eyes either..

Our Nuvi with POIs for RV and camping parks plus POIs for low clearance work just fine and I can comfortably look at the screen when needing to verify upcoming turns, etc...

You'll be happy

I always thought using google maps on the road was eating up my data.
I normally look at the maps before I go, so I suppose it is the same as downloading the map for that area.

We have two smart phones. My wife is on hers all the time. I only have mine on when I'm expecting a call or actually using it.

I hate cell phones!
IMO they are the biggest invasion of privacy in the past recent years. You can't go in a restaurant, movie house or park for that matter w/o someone yelling into their phones.....

But they do have as use.

{The Dezl 770LTMHD came today. Refurbished (off ebay. bought it on ebay to save paying sales tax). It looks brand new.GPS City is in Las Vegas,(I think) so I got it in two days.
So far so good}

As mentioned previously, smart phone do NOT need data to be effective. Several programs are stand-alone and mapping programs like Google Maps allows you to download the entire area where you plan to travel and it will work just fine with or without data. You just don't get the live traffic updates which is likely not a problem when you are far away from a heavily populated area.

Don't all smart phones have a built-in GPS now? I know some didn't used to have it and relied on cell tower fixes, but I was under the impression that smart phones have onboard GPS now.

Didn't read the post. NO cell signal required for gps on a smart phone. Period. There is some seriously bad information in this forum.

Go back to a flip phone? I've never left. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a cell phone to call someone if necessary, which has happened a couple of times over the years. It cost me about $12 last year. My kids and grand kids have spent several thousand dollars among them last year so they, basically, can access social media. Go figure.

I get the cost argument. Sure a flip phone and cheap pnd cost less but also provide far less function and more devices to manage. I use a smart phone for everything I could use a computer for(I don't use social media or create spreadsheets) and would never be without one. It is access to the entire internet in your pocket. For gps I can name 3 apps off the top of my head that do NOT require a cell signal or data from that signal to navigate- Garmin North America, Here maps and Co pilot. All have fully self contained and lifetime maps. All function as well or better than a pnd using smart phones built in gps chip (mine has 1 meter accuracy). When you consider a modern smart phone does 4k video and 12mp optical zoom still camera, skype, gps, internet browse, email, texting, streaming video, bluetooth audio- and does all of this on high res 5.5 inch screens it really is a get what you pay for scenario. so truck or RV... size you put in the size .. unit/trailer.. whatever you like.

it also has CAR MODE.... and acts like a Car GPS...

In the car mode, and if you entered in the rig size, does the car mode take that info into consideration?
