I got an email that read

(insert my daughter name) wrote:
is this your photo?


With an link attached. I removed it without opening it.

My daughter knows a photo of me. I am sure she did not send it.

Oh and some others I get
From: Bank of America Security
or E-bay or Pay pal or Amazon or others have reported other banks.

(Disecting the header which used to do shows they are NOT from who they claim to be)

A good rule is if you don't know who or where the email can from, Delete IT

I get E-mails all the time from Mary (last name witheld) The real Mary is a friend from Church (We sang in the choir together).

But when I check the address. EVEN before anything else.. They come from "her_name@all.sorts.of.Domains.

Not one of which is hers. I mean one came from UK another from Finland.. Get the picture. One from a company that serves the SOUTHERN US (She is in MI).

Virtually all yahoo email addresses are "out there".

Did you give Home Depot your email? Probably out there.

Etc.

Just delete and ignore.

I would agree, except that they evidently have her name and contact list. Hacked and spoofed or just spoofed, either way delete and move on like someone else said. If the e-mail causes you enough concern to ask about it, your instincts are usually right.

One of the many spam emails out there right now.
They send ones about "is this your photo", ""broken photo on the site", "repost last photo", "please check your photo" and many more. Depending on your email program you may be able to hover over the link without clicking and it will show you the real address where it is going to take you. Many of the fake addresses are easy to spot as they are a jumble of letters/numbers.

Any time you get a suspicious e-mail, click on the sender's name and see who it actually came from. Not unusual to for the actual e-mail address to be completely different than the name in the FROM box. Mine go to the junk or spam (not trash) bin without opening anything.
