SMALL windows tablet?

I'm looking for a SMALL win tablet to shove in a pack while skiing. I need something that is SMALL, has good battery life (2+ hrs reading PDFs and maybe watching movies) and reasonable performance for those tasks only. But it must be SMALL, the 8-inch class is about as big as I can do.

Currently I'm looking at the Dell venue 8 pro, $200 on Amazon:

Thoughts? Alternatives? Think SMALL!

I went with the Dell with 64gb, as recommended here. More money than I wanted to spend, but 10gb left out o 32gb would have been too tight, even with a big sd card.

VERY interesting to learn about the Winbook--less money and more power, for those that can get a hold of one.

Thanks!

You won't regret going with the 64G model over the 32G. If you want more free space out of the 64G, you can copy the restore partition to a USB thumb drive then delete the partition to reclaim the space.

The Surface Pro 3 is a pretty sweet unit. If $800 is too much $$, the Dell Venue 8 Pro is a nice way to go. Agree you want the 64GB unit, 32GB isn't enough.

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro with 64GB and additional 64GB SD card. I love this machine. It replaced all of my other tablets.

Groupon has a great deal on an Asus with keyboard (which becomes a cover or is removable) for less than $300. Janet loves hers would have bought 2 but I wanted something larger than 10".
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

I had a Dell Venue 8 Pro and really liked it (since replaced by a MS Surface Pro 3). Be aware that the 32G model doesn't leave much storage space after OS and recovery partition (somewhere around 10G free). However, it can handle a 128G SD card which should provide a decent amount of storage.

My Nexus 7 Android tablet sits unused since I got a Windows based tablet.

If you are near a Microcenter store check out the WinBook tablets. They have two 8" models and a 10" model priced from $99.99 to $199.99. They run Windows 8.1 full version not RT.

WinBook tablets

WinBook is Microcenter's store brand and available in store only.

I bought the 10" version a few days ago. One nice feature is a full size USB 3 port.

If you want small (like iPod sized), I paid $40 for a Nokia 520 with Windows Phone OS on it (blech). Decent hardware (actually better specs than my iPod, though not nearly as sturdy), small, and works fine either without a sim card or as a phone only.
It's small though.

Dell is fine, Toshiba, Asus, Acer, HP, and Panasonic are among others to choose from. Been using tablets for years and still prefer using the Android platform when utilizing my tablet for emails, music, videos, and surfing the web.
