Unlike the safety plan, which essentially stops data transfer (I tested it at .05MB/sec), the new VWZ unlimited plan says that after 22GB/mo they may throttle you if your particular cell tower is busy, and then restore 4GLTE speed as traffic slows down. It also allows tethering.

It's not "unlimited" data. When any one of your lines gets to 22 GB, then Verizon may "throttle" (reduce speed) you.

Of course it's unlimited DATA. They don't charge more for going over 22GB, they just slow down your speed. As Gulfcoast said, it's not unlimited SPEED.

I guess if you want to use the speed change to say it's limiting your data, then all data plans are limited by the maximum speed (Mbps) x seconds in a billing cycle. For my grandfathered in AT&T 4G unlimited, that would work out to ~13 TB per month. Guess I need to call AT&T and ask why my "unlimited" plan is only going to give me 13TB! Not planning on downloading at full tilt 24/7/30 though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Exactly no different than the current "L" and above plans with their safety mode option. Also, does the new plan have the carryover data and bonus data options. Finally under the current plans you can switch between the plans like 3 times/mo w/o penalty. I've been on the new "L" plan for close to a year and one month had to go to the XL plan and then back and it only cost me the difference in the two plans for one month usage.

Really nice feature of the current plans is the bonus data is used first, then current months data, and then finally the carryover data. My current "XL" plan has a total of 20G monthly allowance (16 basic plan plus 4G "bonus data") all for $76.50 with my 15% military discount so IMO the new plan is probably not worth it since there doesn't seem to be any "optional plans" to shift to in the month to get more data if needed and then switch back when the extra data is not needed.

Tethering/hotspot is 10 gigs full speed then drops to 3G in USA.

For Canada the high speed data is limited to 500 megs per day. After that it drops to 2G.

I'll shortly be back to Canada and will do a post on how my T-Mobile operates while tethering.
