Winegard Traveller Power requirements

Installed a Winegard Traveller SWM-3 dish on our toy hauler. Would like to power it using an inverter when shore power is not available. Wondering what size inverter would be sufficient to power the 110V drive system power inserter. Have an inquiry into Winegard but wondered if anyone might have some experience with this set up. thanks

That's a very good idea!

I run all 3 (TV,Winegard Traveler satellite, and receiver) with a 200W MSW Whistler inverter. I never unplug anything and use this set up exclusively as i am always off the grid as in boondocking. That said, in the interest of full disclosure my inverter comes directly off the battery and is located about a foot from the battery.

I raise and lower mine with a 300w inverter.

Very small. It only needs power when going up and down and nothing after that. I believe the power supply requires 5 amps and runs at 48VDC.
However, you will need A/C power all the time to run the Power Inserter, the satellite receiver and the TV if not a DC TV. That's going to add to the power requirements. I found an inexpensive 750W which is over kill but I would stick with something in the 500W range if it was me. The small inverters tend to be noisy with their fan running so you might want to place it closer to the batteries and run A/C power line from there to where all the electronics will be.

Once it has located the correct bird you can unplug it. So consumption is zero while watching TV. During setup a 1000 watt inverter is sufficient from what I remember.

The power consumption should be written right on the power brick.
