Winegard X1 Pathway Satellite

Looking for anyone with real world experience with this particular antenna. I just purchased this model and was wondering how often there were issues due to the West only feeds. I will be traveling primarily in the South and the Western part of the US. That said I would still be interested to know how far North anyone has been able to use the X1. Before anyone asks I bought this particular antenna instead of say the X2 (which accesses east and west) due to a limited footprint and even less storage on my B van. In other words I had absolutely no other choice. Thanks .

As stated before most of my time will be spent in the SE and the Western part of the US.
Unlike most folks I’m having to give up my OTA antenna to make room for the X1 so I’m hoping it performs well. That said I know it will not perform well in rain and around trees.
I try to avoid trees as I have 285 watts of solar that has to be fed. Now rain that’s another story.

We spend a lot of time near the water. If we go to Vermont and park in a valley or a pine grove it sometimes doesn't work. We used to have an old dish on a tripod and it didn't always work either. We have an antenna and most places have cable so if it doesn't work it's no big deal to us. Does it ever not work, yes but it works most of the time.

Since the elevation angle for the 129 sat drops down to about 15° around the middle of Vermont & New Hampshire, you would have to have a really clear shot for quite a distance to hit it from anywhere in Maine. 119 is at about 19° and 110 about 23° in central Maine, so you'd have a little better luck hitting them for SD programming.

Very interesting that it has worked well for you in the NE corner of the US where it’s not supposed to work very well.

I totally get it that I will be at a disadvantage with a stationary antenna vs portable. That said , assuming a clear line of sight, will the X1 perform on par with others that have both eastern/ western arcs except in the upper NE? We have had several stationary antennas before and usually have no problem finding a spot that works. I just hope the X1 is a good performer compared to others we’ve owned.?

The western arc is viewable in all but the very northeast corner of the US, although at a lower elevation than the eastern arc as you move east. Being limited to the western arc will cut down on your aiming opportunities on treed sites, etc. In the areas you indicate, you should be ok in most locations, but likely not all. Having both eastern and western arc capability for our manually aimed 1000.4 dish, we have never been on a site in any of over a hundred parks yet where we couldn't get satellite signal. It did take most of the 200' of coax we carry a few times though. Your X1 likely won't work well that far out.
