I stay at the Banning Stage Coach KOA a couple of times a year. It is a peaceful place up against the mountains. I've never had a problem there; it's just down from a school.
Just a note, don't take the 8th street exit off of the 10 freeway if driving east, go to the next exit as the 8th street exit has a huge dip that will drag your tow bar. I think that intersection with my tow bar scraping caused it to fail soon after. The big screw that holds the hitch became loose and it had to be eventually replaced. The camping mags say take 8th but go to the next exit (Hargrave St.) and follow the signs.

Man, if you search google, there are better places around there. Both Banning and neighboring city of Beaumont are TWEAKER havens!!!!! My wife's family always makes a joke about "B" cities. If it starts with the letter "B," DON'T STAY IN THE CITY!!!!
That's her general rule for SoCal.
