Note that when you first turn the propane heater on, it should run just the fan for a few minutes before the gas valve opens and tried to light the burner. This is to be sure that any excess is cleared out before trying to light the burner. If the burner doesn't light as soon as the gas valve opens, the ignighter may not be working. If this happens, the thermocouple should shut the gas off. The burner is fired by, and exhausts only outside air. There should be no gas flow into interior under any conditions. Air it out, use a space heater, and wait till morning.

If you're not sure what you're doing, I'd suggest you wait til daylight tomorrow and figure it out..Not sure I'd want to be messing with the propane in the dark.

I would expect that when you open the valve on the LP tank for the first time and the gas heating unit is on you're probably going to get some gas leaking before burner fires up. You might want to turn the heater off and light one of the burns on your stove first. Once the air in the system is purged and the stove burner lights then try turning on the heating unit.

You probably won't...the power to your heater is thru the thermostat. there isn't usually any heat strips in a furnace.

A cube heater may not keep it toasty, but should keep it from freezing. If you don't have one, surely the neighbor has one you can borrow for a night.

Turn the gas valve off tight. Air out the camper. Then use an electric space heater as others have said, leaving cabinet doors open.

I don't see anything in the manuals about having a heat strip or electric plug in the heater.

Propane unless you have an electric space heater. In an RV, the propane supplies the heat. The electric hookup or batteries supply power to the fan(s) that circulate the heat.

a portable space heater should work, leaving all the lower cabinet doors open...what kind of temps are you expecting tonight?

I tried turning the propane on, the coach filled with gas and the alarms wouldn't stop. Turned everything off, tried again later, same thing. Didn't want it to blow up so turned off everything. I will call Forest River tomorrow but I can't figure out how to keep it warm and the water not freeze tonight.

If you want to run the furnace then yes the lp tank needs to have some lp in it and the valve turned on, the air will have to be purged before it fires though! Do you have a heat strip in the A/C or an electric plug in heater for running off of electric?

I have a DP, but to use the furnace the LP has to be on. To use just AC for heat, the air conditioner would have to have built in AC powered heater strips. Or you need a stand alone eletric heater. Does your AC have the built in heater strips?

I brought my class C coachmen home today to winterize the next couple of days. Hooked it up to the gargage with an AC adapter. Just want to keep it warm overnight until I finish the winterizing. The heat won't come on. Having rented several in the past I always used the AC at the campground for heat. Never turned on the LP gas for heat in the past. Using AC, does the LP gas have to be on now?
