Girlfriend and I will be taking off on our first adventure. A year living in a travel trailer. Our budget is 15 grand. We would like a used one. Wondering what units you guys would recommend if you were in my position. I don't need it to sleep more than 2. A pull out couch would be ok but not necessary.

Thanks!

I'll be staying in a full hookup campground 99% of the time. Any time I stay outside the RV site that I'll need a generator, I won't be in a campground.

Congrats on your new to you rig!

one comment, hope you don't plan on using that open-frame Champion 3500 in a campground, unless you meant the 3100 inverter model.
the 3500 is not an appropriate generator for a campground.

2006 Keystone RV Springdale 291 RKLGL. We found a used one in Carson City, NV. We loved all the counter top space. It also had pretty decent room on the inside as well as a bedroom that was not great but totally fine for us. It's missing one of the recliner chairs so we may put a small desk there for the computer. Also it had a lot of great light inside with the type of windows it had. I'll post pictures tomorrow after i pick it up! Looking at generator choices now. thinking a champion 3500 remote start. We will be camping at the travertine hot springs in bridgeport, CA tomorrow night on our way to San Diego where we will be staying.

ended up picking up a 29ft travel trailer in Nevada. Price worked out, and the inside felt much larger than a 29ft. Going ot put the motorcycle into the truck bed which will be my best bet. Thanks guys for all the input!

I'd make sure it had a full time bed that you could walk down each side. Enough counter top to make meals. A TV that was easy to watch from a comfortable seating location. Enough closet space to hold clothes for the changing seasons.

Well if you're gonna put on a lot of miles, I'd get a 5th wheel. If not then whatever.
Don't know much about trailers but my arctic fox camper was good quality. I'd look for an AF trailer. $15 k will get you a nice trailer.

Lots of choices in this size range. The weights will vary more than you might expect and you pay a premium for a lighter weight one that uses more metal in its construction.

Start with the square footage you want, storage needs, size of holding tanks for fresh and waste water, size of fridge, type of bath/shower (wet or dry), and number of batteries and LPG tanks it can carry. All these factors affect usability for extended use both in campgrounds with hookups and when boondocking.

Lots of advantages to find a trailer for sell by people who are not upgrading and will include all the gear and accessories they have used. It will save you a lot of money and time and effort doing this yourself.

I would expect a used Airstream trailer to cost the most upfront but cost less in the long run with its higher value when you go to sell it.

Our 30 foot trailer weighs about 7400 lbs empty and 8500 when loaded. Our payload on our f250(gasser) is 2900 and we have also carried an atv in the bed while trailering, I would look for the most payload you can find. Often a gasser will have more than a diesel.

As to your original question, a 30 foot trailer should be very comfortable for two with plenty of room to spare. 15,000 is a reasonable budget for a nice used unit several years old. As someone stated earlier, Jayco makes a nice mid range product.

Sounds like you will have a lot of good options with the F250.
