IMHO I like the flat ones not the baskets. It allows for you to carry any sized object and be able secure it and you are not limited to the inside diameter of the basket ones.
What ever you do, do NOT buy the cargo carrier that has an attached arm with a bike carrier on it. I did and it's junk and wobbles, etc etc. I ended up folding up and welding it shut!
That said they make metal holders that attach to all cargo carriers to hold bikes. Several companies sell them and there are several different designs. Just google cargo carrier bike racks.

I ended up switching to this bumper mount for the bikes. Gave me back the cargo carrier for other stuff. Mount it off to the side of the cargo carrier.
This also has a designed space behind the bike rack rods for a spare tire or what I do is strap down the lawn chairs in that space.
