We are upgrading from our 21' Winnebago Minnie Travel Trailer that we have had for less than a year to a Jayco Greyhawk 32' Class C Motorhome. Camping World is offering a 5 year Interior / Exterior Protection Package for $695. Has anyone had experience with this type of package and is it worth it in the long run?

You don't need a protection for the interior and exterior. It really is a waste of money. Congrats on the new rig.
Experience without good judgment is worthless; good judgment without experience is still good judgment!

Thanks for the replies. In the "package" besides the exterior "treatment" for fading and the interior stain guard, they are including repairing small rips, keyholes, cigarette burns etc. Since we don't smoke it's worthless. I'll do the waxing and ScotchGuard myself.

Snake oil... really.

Use a good wax on your camper on the outside and get a can of ScotchGuard and spray the inside of the camper and save yourself $680.00!

We've had both the interior and exterior in the past. Little did we realize how much of a waste of money that was. Spray ScotchGuard (sold at any Wallmart) does the same thing.

What is in the package? Fabric Guard? Paint protection ? If so, keeping your exterior washed and spray waxed will be good enough, and if you must, a can of Scotch Guard goes a long way.

I'd say in 22 years with our current RV and 16 years with the RV before it we haven't spent anywhere close to $695 for repairs and upkeep to the interior/exterior. Ours look like new due to good care and preventative maintenance.

The folks at www.rv-dreams.com have written a very good post on extended warranties and what to watch out for.

Welcome to your new Jayco Class C! We're in a 31FK model now and really enjoy it.

I looked at some extended warranty packages for *mechanical* stuff and they ranged from $500ish to $2000ish based on deductibles, pre-pay, coverage, duration etc.

What puzzles me is what exactly are they covering? It doesn't sound mechanical to me. Could be - $700 is in the range I've seen before.

Yes, extended warranty packages are almost always a win for the provider. But if you sleep better with one, then it's worth $700.

Depending on what's covered.
Read their contract very, very closely. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd spend the $695 on a camping trip!
