New to RV camping

I grew up tent camping and love to hike out into the wilderness and camp. However We just bought our first camper, a 32 foot travel trailer.
We will be setting up as a seasonal locally for the summer as a weekend getaway. I am very excited to have a place to get away to on the weekends and let the kids play and run. I have a newly teenage daughter and am really looking to spend real quality time with her before she gets to the point that she doesn't want to spend any time with me anymore.
I am looking for any tips for set up or whatever.
Im also curious what the atmosphere is like when seasonally camping, people tell me that folks are friendly and the kids will have a great time, but im new to rv camping, not to mention setting up and going to the same place every weekend. so Im just curious what to expect.
Thanks all for any input, im very excited about this new lifestyle, just to bad I have to wait 6 months before I get to use it.

Are there things to do outside the campground? Going to the same place might get boring that would be my concern with a teen. Exploring new areas would keep their interest....maybe. 🙂

I would try out the CG a few times prior to putting any money into a long term contract or any other particulars you may add to your semi-permanent site. You can usually get a good feel for the location after a few days. However, if there are a lot of transient campers, you will be at their mercy. If there is a good proactive camphost, that would help. Enjoy.

That would depend on the campground/resort and what activities they offer. If your kids enjoy the things the campground offers, then I would imagine they'd enjoy themselves. It will also be helpful if there are other kids around the same age as your kids.

Being there only on the weekends will probably make it easier on the kids. Our kids get a little bored after a couple months at our seasonal place. We are there all season long, not just the weekends.

As for the other campers, who knows. At our seasonal campground, everyone is really nice. There are a couple grumps; fortunately they don't camp near us. The campground owners do a lot to bring the seasonal folks together throughout the season with meet & greets, pancake breakfasts, pot luck suppers, etc. which helps everyone get to know everyone, not just the folks camping near you.

Congrats on your new TT. All I can say about camping with the kids is try to camp where the children can have fun. My daughters 11 and 9 love history and loves going to museums, it can be big or small it doesn't matter, Also, they love going biking so I try to camp where I can have easy access. You're right about children growing up and not wanting to be with us but when they do leave the house and go on their adventures of live they will remember these 'camping' times and the fun they had, I know I did.

p.s. there are a lot of kid friendly cg's.
