Mad bad dog and guns and you still don't feel safe?
Syracuse must have some serious problems.

I don't travel with manufactured weaponry and I feel fine.
No problems with Canadians either.

I have a concealed handgun license in Texas, NO everyone from Texas doesn't carry a gun, and yes I travel with it when camping. I look up all of the state's information for our trip ahead of time, and will either put the pistol in the glove box if that is required, or in the RV's safe, which is acceptable even in California. I have thought about carrying a shotgun on trips, but haven't yet. I don't expect trouble, kind of like I don't expect to have an accident; I don't wave it around or talk about guns with every stranger that ambles up. I love life, will try to get away from the trouble if I possibly can, but will not stand by and let someone hurt my family or myself without some resistance. In the past the DW and I have had to stop for the night in road side rest areas; no help for many miles, but we were not uneasy. I haven't ever even come close to needing it and hope it always stays that way.

I'm covered in NY state, but not with my handgun out of NY,hence my 12 gage

I agree with the NRA as a first source of advice. Pay particular attention to the NJ law regarding "lockbox transport", and then legal use in your campsite, considered a residence under most state laws as it's a rented space of habitation.

I recommend carrying Bear spray and Wasp Spray as well as a shotgun.
The perfect choice for less than lethal necessities. PLus some parks do not allow firearms NEW YORK STATE PARKS for example and sitting outside in a boondocking situation with a shotgun can raise law enforcement eyebrows. Sitting outside with WASP SPRAY or Bear spray will not bring any untoward attention. P

Bear spray is legal even in New York for use on an animal.
A healthy squirt of Wasp Spray in somethings face will deter it from coming any further. Wasp Spray shoots a stream up to 15 feet

well wasn't really thinking of sitting outside with it ....more for at night when in bed having it close by

Well if it is not near you during the day when you are most vulnerable to attack what are you going to do during those hours. Yep I have a shotgun in the closet of my rig but the beaqr spray and wasp spray are always near me

I have a 4 legged mad man that is ALWAYS near me....and im NOT most vulnerable during the day

This topic has been approached many times in many ways. First, consider that your RV may be considered a home, at least the self contained living area behind the cockpit is a home, so traveling with a firearm becomes a little different than traveling with a firearm in your car. Then, every state has its own laws regarding firearms. Stories coming out of New Jersey about guests being charged in the state are scary. Similar stories in New York City. Then you may want to consider that a firearm stored for a boondocking emergency will only appear in an emergency. You will then have to defend yourself to law enforcement and the court system, but you will be around to work on that defense. There are many good books regarding state wide transport of firearms. The NRA is an excellent source of information. Perhaps, the information you receive of this website could be considered less than perfect. Including my little contribution. Happy Trails, and be safe.

I don't carry a gun or wasp spray or pepper spray. I do have the dogs (2). Otherwise, I stay aware of my surroundings, use common sense, and inject realism into my life (how likely is it that some crazy person is going to be in the same little section of the great big forest where I set up camp - it's more likely I will be attacked in my own neighborhood, and I don't sleep with those things at home either.

This is about a woman traveling alone but it should be relevant.

For many more, search 'firearm'

I do not carry. Never felt any reason to. Things may change.
