Hi every one.

I just completed a 567 mile round trip and the mileage was around 7.4 mpg.

Empty around town or highway, im seeing 11 mpg.

I'm starting to wonder if new plugs and wires are in order... I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm in drastic need of a tune up.

Does anyone wish to share there chevy 2500 mileage numbers?

sounds normal gasser mpg for a HD truck.

I tend to LOL at HD gassers claiming they get 15 plus MPG... The only exception IMHO would be a 6.4 Ram with the ACM.

My aunt told me that her 5.4 F250 gets low 20's.... I was like.. really?

Thanks!

Your fuel mileage is right on the mark for the 6.0. Nothing to worry about. If the truck has never had plugs/wires replaced then it's due but your fuel mileage will probably not increase.

8mpg when towing is what I get as well towing our nearly 10K# 32' TT, we do get anywhere from 12-14mpg not towing depending on how heavy my foot is at the time. HD trucks with gas engines all pretty much get the same mpg when towing, you have to pay if you want to play.

Our TV is dedicated to towing and just sits in the garage awaiting duty, does a great job and is paid off to boot. Total waste of money for us to get a diesel as we would never realize any savings and we don't plan to get anything heavier in the future.

The difference between a flat bed car trailer with a car on it and a hard side tall TT are day and night. I've lived it.

Honestly, I'm guessing these are factory plugs in my engine. I bought it with just under 100k, now the odometer is reading 111k. I've never put plugs in it.

I've got a buddy with a 2004 2500 Chevy crew (not "HD" badged) that swears he gets 15 unloaded, and 11 when towing a flatbed with race car... probably under 4500# for a trailer.

He also sent his computer out to be tuned, and the tuners set it up for just 93 octane and a better "tow/haul" mode.

The computer reprogram wasn't cheap, though.

Oh, in answer to your question, we have an 03 Silverado, 2500 HD, Duramax diesel/Allison, crew cab and get around 12 mpg towing a 14,500# 5th wheel and 21-22 solo. Understand the 07's and above don't get that good of mileage solo.
