2009 CRV EX

So we are back at the toad hunt again. Found a good deal on a 2009 Honda CRV. Going to finalize the deal tomorrow. According to the manual can be towed 4 down. Has 77k miles which makes me cringe a little but seems well taken care of and it's actually lower than avg. mileage for the year and searches I've done. This will be DW's daily driver also so it needs to be reliable. She averages about 20k miles in a year. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions? Can you get an extended warranty on cars? I've never actually looked. Is it worth it?

Thanks

The price they want for this is below KBB , for new I'd have to spend at least another $10k. To me that's a lot of money. And the 2015's can't be towed.

Thanks for the replies!. SOunds like a winner. That year and mileage isn't much per year when ammortized. Doug, I did some digging and seems it has a timing chain, not a belt, so it shouldn't need serviced if I understand correctly.

We struck a decent deal with a trade of our civic for the CRV so I think we'll be picking it up today. They also have an '11 on the lot for a decent price that still has some warranty left but it's not awd. Not sure if that can be towed or the fwd vs awd may not matter. Always thought of having an SUV might as well get awd but maybe we don't need that.

Once I get the CRV guess I need to sell the dolly and get the base plates and bars. Looking at the ready brake set up. Looks like it's a good system.

Thanks again !

Oh and I agree on the extended warranty. JD Power has the CRV reliability high which means that a warranty likely will be more money than infrequent/or non existent repairs. I am just used to buying new vehicles. We paid for the extra warranty on the civic and it's never needed anything so that was sort of a waste.

Don't pay for an extended warrantee, they're just not worth it. As far as reliability, you won't be disappointed with the crv. I have a 2008 civic (same platform) and the only things I've done in the 160000 miles of ownership has been maintenance items (oil, coolant, brakes, trans oil). I've not had to make one repair on it, and the car is still going strong.

A friend has the same year crv. No repairs there either and he has 116000 miles on it.

We own an 09 CRV and have found it to be a very reliable car. Ours is set up to tow behind our motorhome with a Blue Ox baseplate, which works quite well.
I think you'll be pleased!
