2015 GMC Terrain flat tow procedure

Would like to know the proper procedure for setup to flat tow Terrain.
Book says to:
Shift in neutral, key turned to accessory, shut off all accessories
Then pull fuse #32

My question is do I leave key in and in accessory position?
Then use 2nd key to lock vehicle?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for all advise.
I now have 2015 Terrain setup for flat towing and it tows very well.
Have installed the switch to cut off #32 fuse.
Have installed a 12 volt connector (Roadmaster) so I can plug in braking system
I use a Brake Buddy original which works very well.
Any questions on what I did please feel free to ask.

I am working to get a 2015 GMC Terrain set up to tow. I have to date the BX 1689 base plate and Hopkins 56108 Plug-In Simple Towed Vehicle Wiring Kit. I was concerned about a battery drain, so I also added a Roadmaster Towed Vehicle Charge Line Kit.

I am not sure of a few things as I read through this forum. Even more questions.... guess that's how it is when your learning.

1) Is the fuse #32 removed to keep the battery from draining, or does it disable required features (electronics) to allow for towing?

2) Is anyone else using a trickle charge kit similar to what I have with success and is it required?

3) I haven't selected a breaking system yet, so I am all ears on anyone's decision process in their choice.

Does the owner's manual say what fuse 32 supplies power to? My memory says it is for the ECM.
Then yes, you would have to install it. That is why a switch would make it much easier.

The book said to run engine after towing certain amount of miles at rest stops or fuel stops during travel.
When starting engine at stop do you install #32 fuse before starting engine then remove again as you continue to your destination?

Also how do most wire the lights for dinghy towing on this vehicle?
Any secret spot to run breakaway switch thru engine compartment firewall?

Thanks for all your previous help

You would need to check. My rig has both, one hot with ignition off, and one hot with ignition in the on position and not accessory.

Thanks Bud for the reply.
At this point is the 12 volt power plugs active for my brake buddy to work?
Just curious?

Yes, the key stays in the rig. You can use your remote or another key to lock. That is if your rig will allow you to locate the rig with the key in the ignition.
I would install a switch setup so you do not have to pull the fuse. switch set up from Roadmaster
