Anderson Ultimate Connection - FAILED

I recently purchased an Anderson Ultimate Connection. Before beginning my trip from the Boise, ID area, I took my Ford 350 and my 38 foot Lifestyle fifth-wheel to Flying J and weighed them. They were lower than the weight limits allowed by the manufacturer.

When I got to Ft. Bridger, WY, 445 miles later that day, I found that the hitch had crumpled.

I notified the dealer that I had purchased it from, and they notified Anderson. Over a month ago, I was told that Anderson would "do right by me". What they have done, is ignore me!

If I had problems with a product, these forums are a good place to vent, but I'm not sure how much of an impact it has on manufacturers.

I think that the product resolution section of trailer life magazine might have an impact. I've never sent them a letter or email, but just looking at the letters in the magazine it looks like they might be effective. They contact the maker of the product, and it seems to me that it might have more of an impact than a complaint from an individual, because of the number of people that read the magazine.

I'm sure there are a lot of readers of this forum also, so I would use both to try to get resolution.

Who knows, maybe the quality of a lot of products
might increase.

Just saw another failure, but again not of the hitch
This one is a failure of the rails, it appears the rails were not bolted to the frame, but rather only to the bed.

So to be fair...you didn't see "another" failure. Rather you saw a rail system fail because of improper installation.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Yep, another newbie hit and run. No further replies. I have seen pictures of an Andersen Ultimate failure. But until this guy comes back with more proof, I'm writing him off as a troll.

This posting does raise some questions in that the profile indicates Florida homebase, but purchased hitch in Boise ID. Possible, but raises questions. On the other hand, having dealt with Andersen when the Hitch destroyed my Lippert 1621HD pin box, Andersen did indeed become non communicative with my dealer initially. When I then went to them directly they blew me off several times before finally saying it's the pin box designs fault not ours. They aren't company I would ever deal with again.

More information, and actual confirmation would be nice. First post, new member, sometimes those two things lead to a troll post, or someone just venting about something.

These hitches are overbuilt...I'd really like to see one crumpled.

Is that why they had to re engineer the Aluminum Ultimate? They DID have failures! I am wondering if the op was sold old stock?

I like my Andersen UH and think it's a high quality product. However, like any other man-made device, it can fail. That being said, I agree with this post. New member, first (and only) post, flaming a product with no pictures, details, or any other descriptive information as to how this occurred. Was it installed correctly or incorrectly? Far too vague of a post to gain any knowledge.

It would help if you'd identify just what it is you're talking about ...

Andersen Ultimate Connection

Secondly, be proactive rather than wasting your time whining to others here on the forum who can't do anything for you anyway. Instead of assuming this dealer did in fact contact Andersen make contact yourself ... contact Andersen. Remember, any warranty you have on this product is with the manufacturer not the dealer.

I've seen photo's on one that failed (on Facebook)
But the owner had installed himself and installed the king-pin adapter backwards.
It was clearly an owner screw up
