Blue Ox versus Equalizer

Does anyone out there have experience with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System with Sway Control and Trunnion Bars? I am trying to decide between the Equalizer and the Blue Ox to tow my travel trailer.

Thank you,

Snip...

It's hard for me to see how the steeply-sloping WD bars can provide any more resistance than "conventional" WD bars without any other form of sway control.

Ron

I agree with this!

We all need to be aware that there are
1) an old-version Blue Ox Sway Pro which has sway-resisting friction built into the trunnion/socket system and
2) a new-version Blue Ox Sway Pro which does not utilize trunnion/socket friction and relies solely on the downward-angled WD bars for sway control.

I would be very interested in hearing how those who are using the new-version Sway Pro feel about its sway resistance.

And because of what Ron says here, my comments in the other thread regarding the BlueOx should be taken in the context that I have and use the old style. I have not used the new style.

I like my Blue Ox compared to the Equalizers I've seen. Good luck.

I have a Blue Ox sway pro that I use to tow my Surveyor SV-264. I have the 1500lb bars and it tows really nice. I don't have anything else to compare it to (this is my first hitch) but it is very easy to hookup.

That was a great discussion thread and why I love this forum. Very informative. BarneyS, JBarca, and BenK always have my ear when they speak on these issues.

Rescue 16,

I appreciate the guidance. I have a TT that weighs 5500 lbs fully loaded, so I am looking at the 750 lbs bars.

With my shamrock 21ss I used the equalizer and with my current rv I am using the blue Ox sway pro. Both are good. The Blue ox I have with current set up is setup by dealer that did not know what they were doing and it took me some time to get it dialed in but now I really like it. A lot easier to hitch up then the equalizer and no noise like I had with the equalizer. I a called Blue Ox for assistance with setup and they were very helpful. Need to make a few more trips to be 100% sold on the Blue ox but I am leaning that way as my over all choice. Either one will serve you well but Blue Ox will be easier overall.
