Hard to believe someone so talented could be so foolish with an expensive vehicle. Collector car insurance is very cheap with full coverage, zero deductible. And many policies have automatic increasing car value year to year.

Quite the experience pat. Perhaps the most frustrating part save for someone getting injured is the value of an older vehicle to the owner, if it's well kept, compared to the book value when it gets totalled.
Yep.it is very important to talk with your insurance company if your vehicle is worth more than a typical vehicle of that age.
Local guy bought a 67 Cougar back in the 90s. It was driveable, so he just added it to his insurance policy. He did one of the most amazing frame-off restorations I have ever seen, much less by a guy in his garage. Car was custom, but still looked like one did back when they were on the street. Crager SS wheels, a black metal flake paint job that looked like it was 6โ deep and custom black leather interior. 351C under the hood with performance parts everywhere. Drunk guy T-boned him at an intersection. Insurance paid something like $600. He had $3000 in the seats alone!
