Didn't see that coming- Lippert is recalling what looks like every electric step they produced (47k +) story on RV-Pro news. They don't have a fix for it yet, though I have to say I have yet to see one fail like they say.
It would be nice if they would replace the entire step, they are of poor quality and very shaky and unstable..I have tightened mine up some but they still do not feel as good as Kwikee. I have replaced the motor. I suppose it would cost them too much $$$$ to replace all these poorly made steps..Ir given the choice I will never buy another Lippert product.
I have a 2011 HR with Lippert electric steps. The bolt on my steps broke this past July. I ordered a new bolt from Lippert and installed it myself. Either Lippert did not know they had a problem in July or they chose not to tell me.
Mine failed that way on my motorhome. Just about landed face first in the parking lot when i stepped out and the bolt broke which let the steps swing underneath the coach. Tiffin wanted to sell me new steps of a different brand for over $500. I only wanted the bolt of which i bought from Stromberg. I know why it happened and it could be fixed. I will gladly let them replace them though as i havent made the fix and dont trust them much.
