Dead...

On our last trip we discovered the house batteries had gone dry during storage. They were on charge (coach plugged in)
After we filled the batteries with fluid they still did not allow us to go to battery at all. We were successful in limping it home by running the generator for refrigerator etc.
These batteries are located under the step and are interstate deep cell gc2-ecl-uti 6v.

What do you recommend for replacements? Hate trying to fill these things up under the steps (real PITA) lol

Is there a good alternative to the flooded cells?

Hope the inverter isnt damaged or anything...shoot!

Our 2012 coach came with 6 12V AGM house batteries and 2 12V AGM chassis batteries. We replaced the house batteries in 2020 with Duracell AGMs from Sams club. The chassis batteries were replaced with Duracell AGMs in 2021. I never inspected the batteries until I replaced them. We have a Magnum inverter/charger which maintains them nicely. We have fulltimed since we bought the coach.

Lead acid, AGM, and Lithium batteries all take different charging sinarios. Check what output your converter/charger has. You make need to upgrade your existing charger!

our AGM's were new when we took delivery in 2015 and they're still chugging along today. good luck with whatever you choose.

No way I'm going to be able to lift these pups out of the steps. HOLY SMOKES! I'm going to have to pay someone to come and do it or take it somewhere. Everything I'm reading says the AGM batteries don't last as long as flooded cells. These have lasted at least 5 years which is how long I've owned the rig. Any feedback from the AGM users? Much appreciated

Well that question just .. opened a can of worms..Ford vs Chevy..electric vs internal combustion.. etc

When you're done reading all the posts and your head stops spinning do this.

Take a picture of the existing battery connections before you disconnect any wires. Heck take 4 pictures just to be sure you can put the sires back in the same places.

My opinion..Go to Costco or Sams club and buy 2 6 volt batteries.

Swap the batteries out and go on about your day.

we liked and used both the sealed maintenance free batteries and, in our last motorhome, AGM batteries. other than keeping the terminals clean there is no maintenance required.
