Had it been a Rottweiler or German shepherd it probably wouldnโ€™t have hit the national news

Most likely because if the owner had a Rottweiler or a German Shepherd this incident would never have happened.

As a Rottweiler owner for the last 15 years will agree 100% on this statement. My campground entertainment is to walk my dog through the park and watch peoples faces when their kids run up to pet my dog. I always just tell them to stay calm and only one at a time can pet him or he gets too excited and wants to play resulting in jumping and he can knock down grown adults so I am certain he would unintentionally harm a child with his sheer mass, but he is completely devastated if someone walks past and doesnt pet him. He is a gentle giant.

PitBull! You can almost guarantee it when reading about a dog attack and serious injuries or death.

I will only say you are close to truth.
You can almost guarantee THAT THE NEWS WILL REPORT it was a pit bull.

What breed the canine is.. Weather it's a Dog (male) or a ***** (Female). The news does not much care about that.

I've seen many canines called "Pit Bull" when it was like a wire-haired Terrier or some such (NOT a Pit Bull at all)

Only two dogs (both male) have ever bit me.. One totally by accident. his body language was very apologetic. No serious damage. The other was a genuine Pit Bull.. he did not actually bite me but struck my thumbnail (no penetration) with a tooth. (he tried to bite I was too fast) I've had some other canines try as well. one more than once but again I read their body language and I'm fast. or I was back then.

Makes me think about this meme. Same thing happens with dogs

Dogs always get the blame if they show any aggression and bite someone. They're smart and can sense danger that isn't apparent to their owner. She mostly knows what I'm thinking when it pertains to her. I've had Pits and Rotties for about 18 years. We have a 94# Pit bull/mastiff with a kitten personality but is protective of our property. I hired a roofer to fix a leak and she was more aggressive toward him than I've ever seen..I should of turned her loose. He was a scammer..Charged over $1000. and didn't fix the leaks. Call it my imagination, fantasizing, whatever, but she likes every stranger that comes to the house. I'm not suggesting she knew he wasn't going to do the job but I believe she sensed his mental personality. That's my story and I'm sticking with it..:) :). .

Also, I know a few breeds that I view potentially more dangerous and difficult to control than a pit bull. These breeds are not currently a problem because they are not popular and indiscriminately bred.

A childhood friend was seriously bit by his sister's dog when he tried to enter her bedroom. The dog was a dobie.

A neighbor dog bit their yard guy when he entered their backyard without their knowledge. The dog was a rottie. He also held me at the fenceline when I went to repair a broken slat in our joint fence.

My childhood dog got between my sibling, friend and I (all under 12 years old) and two twenty-something guys with an aggressive lab. My dog was prepared to fight that dog. My dog was a boxer.

The point being, that any dog can see fit to protect it's owner or territory from a perceived threat.

So to assume that any other breed would NOT act to protect it's owner is a bad assumption.

That was not the case in years past; before pit bulls it was German shepherds, Dobermans, then Rottweilers. Who knows, the movie Dog may ruin malinois/Belgian shepherd by making them the next โ€œtough dogโ€.

I don't think it was changed. If you scroll back to the original post on page one, it would show the date/time and who modified it.

You're right. The more sensationalist title was (is) used for the actual link not the title.

Random thoughts: the dog was doing what all dogs do - protecting its owner. Considering that it appeared to be living under less-than-ideal circumstances, it's probably a miracle that the dog didn't die from the bites it gave - is it fentanyl that police officers must protect themselves from contact with? I'm just pondering what happens when a dog bites someone under the influence of lethal drugs....

The photos of the encampment show where RVs go to die.
