Electrical question

So we have a camper at a seasonal camp ground. Our meter has not moved for months, we keep getting electrical bills for $0.00. Yet we still have electricity coming to our camper. All the sites have individual meters that get read every month. When we first noticed the low bill, we contacted the front office to say โ€œwe think the meter is defective, we had an extremely low billโ€, their response was โ€œdonโ€™t worry, next time they read the meter, it will catch upโ€โ€ฆ..well it hasnโ€™t.
My question is : is the park being charged for the electricity, and I am not getting charged
Or is the town paying and the campground is not being charged for my monthly usage?
I think I am going to mention it againโ€ฆI just do not want to have it come back at me.
Any suggestions?

Very simple, if you have any idea what your monthly use is, put that amount into an alligator jar every month. If you do get bill later on that would make you blush, then open your alligator jar and you have funds available.
What's an alligator jar, same as a crocodile or shark jar. Money only goes in until it's needed to pay the bill.

Thats pretty much what my point has been, somewhere along the line he's going to have to pay, there is no free lunches. Doesn't matter what he has done ,doesn't change the fact, its not free electricity .

If that was your point, I completely misunderstood you. I took your posts to mean he should continue pursuing getting the CG to fix the meter. He is under no legal or moral obligation to continue pursuing the issue once he had reported it to management. If I misunderstood you, I apologize.

Thanks. No problem. Seems like the OP has disappeared anyway..

IMO, you did you due diligence...

So in other words ,just continue with your free electricity , although you should be paying for it.

He notified them. His conscience is clear. He can't force them to fix the problem.

Sure his conscience is clear, does that change the fact he should be paying the same as the rest . Sounds like from a few of you its okay as long as he can get away with it, he did his part :h

What is he supposed to do? Stop using electricity? If he has notified the owners that the meter seems to be broken, yet the owner still doesn't do anything to fix it, it's not the OP's fault. OP isn;t "getting away with anything". He's done what he could do. If the owner is so little concerned, or so lazy to do anything, it's on the owner.

No , heโ€™s not supposed to quit using electricity, but what is it you and others donโ€™t get . Itโ€™s coming back on him eventually in a big bill when they finally wake up to the error . Understand something here, he is using electricity that heโ€™s supposed to pay for , thats seems to be eluding some of you . I would want to get it straightened out , and as I have said before he's had ONE verbal conversation. Sure itโ€™s on the owner , and eventually itโ€™s on him to pay up .

He did want to get it straightened out. That is why he went and told them of the problem. What is he supposed to do, hold a gun on them till they fix it? All he can do is report it. It is up to them to take it from there. He reported it. He did his part.

As far as a "big bill" later, he could report it, in writing, every day for 3 months and it will have no effect on whether he finally gets that bill. To prevent that bill, he would have to FORCE them to fix it, and that is NOT his responsibility, or right.
