Fishing Huron

First of the month we have about twelve free days in Michigan.
We have driven the Huron shore and found a paucity of campgrounds. Saw a couple of real nice ones right on Huron's shore but it appears they have RVs parked year round on these County Parks.
Surely we didn't see all that was available.
Another thing from Port Huron on we didn't see advertisements or listings for boat rentals or charters.
You Folks that have been able to find a good Rv Park and some fishing.
let us in on where to go.
Also what to expect on the water, wind in particular.
Last tie we went out on Lake Michigan , we both got violently sea sick from all the wind. As luck would have it Trout and Salmon were everywhere.
So my theory the lee side of Huron might be a better idea.
The water was near freezing in March or April last time we were though.
Is it always that cold?
Is it perhaps a better idea to go into Canada and find a RV Park and fishing boats, extra time consumption being a concern?

I've camped at Loon's Point RV Park (right on the water) just east of Cedarville and the Les Cheneaux ("the Channels") Islands. The islands keep the water calm - we were kayaking with no problems. Not sure if there's a boat rental there - if not, try the town of Hessel? They have large marinas.

Saginaw Bay is fairly shallow and therefore can get very rough in the wind. Don't get caught out too far when bad weather rolls in. As far as fishing goes Mike-s is correct, yellow perch and walleye are it. Lake trout have been scarce for a few years. You might check out the thumb area above Port Huron all the way over to Sebewaing for campgrounds and marinas.

We used to live in the Harrisville area and the Huron shore above Bay City has some very nice marinas, AuGres, Tawas, Harrisville, Alpena, that should be able to fix you up with a rental.

March/April/May on the Great Lakes? Yeah, expect to be cold if you're not in the cabin. It gets warm in the summer. Can't help with fishing info, other than Saginaw Bay is good for yellow perch and walleye (yummy).
