Just got back from a weeks worth of camping at three different campgrounds. One of the things I do during set up is to raise my flag on the rear ladder of my fifth wheel. Been doing that since I bought the camper. What I have come to notice is, I was the only person who did this. I'm hoping the patriotic spirit has nor completely disappeared in our great American past time!
This is Ford country, on a quiet night you can hear a Chevy rust.
I just got to add, I really started getting irratated w/ people when Roseanne blew her chance at singing the national anthem. Since then, kids here in CA are being sent home because they have a shirt w/ the American flag on it (might disturb some Mexicans), home owners in gated communities not allowed to fly a flag in their front yards. You see places where the Mexican flag is flown over the American flag here in the USA. Where the flag is desecrated without any remorse?? I have to put up with the liberal do gooders, BS politicians of the day, which all scare me more than the terrorist! Does flying the flag make me a better American? No! If you don't, does that make you less of an American? No! BUT you will get hell from me if it bothers you that I do! Last comment, PVC for a flagpole?? Check out Polesandholders.com . I fly my US flag everywhere I go. I also have a solar light to light it up at night. One day a man came up to us while were sitting at our picnic table and complained very LOUDLY that he couldn't see the stars last night when the flag light was on. I didn't know what to say. The people next to us heard what he said a came right over to help me deal with him. Then 3 more neighbors came over. One was a Marine just back from deployment. After 15 minutes the pissed guy went home with is tail between his legs never to be seen again! But we all had a few shots od Jack while we contimplated his ass**leness!
Annoyed by the sound of the flag "flapping in the wind"??? Think first about our soldiers having to listen to gunfire all night to protect our right to fly our flag!!! When I camp in the desert (or where ever), first thing that happens is my 25' pole and flag go up. It's up till I leave (has a solar light on the top). It's held up proud in Q's 40 mph winds! God forbid anyone coming to my camp complaining about my flag flapping'! Have no use for the likes of those who disagree! Shep
Just FYI there is a park (or was) in Yuma that does not like any flags any one run into that in there travels?

Yup - The Palms RV Resort. The Fleetwood Motorhome Association just had their Western Rally there last month. They do not allow ANY flags at all on your rig. They also don't allow any trailers, tow dollies, etc. - one member of the FMA had to stop at the front gate, unload his motorcycles from his trailer, put the trailer in a storage lot across the street (at $20 per day!) and then he was allowed to park at his site. Apparently it's okay to have a motorcycle on your site - just no trailers.
Yup that is a nice place but I am not sure about not being able to fly the Flags US or CA. I can see why they would not want my "Don't Tread on Me" flag but the USA or CA flags, I just don't know.

Flew my flags on my house,my shop,and my camper forever,....since Nov.2012,only on Memorial Day,and Veterans day...love the Vet's....and honor the dead,The Pres.....not so much...JMO

I love to see the flag flown by the various RVers (and others). I did for a long time but when the flag became tired and weary I stopped. I'm still as patriotic as anyone, I think. Its kinda like the gal who always sits in the front pew....doesn't make her any more religious....maybe shes just hard of hearing.

Actually, I do light it at night. See the ladder mounted flag in my signature? I have a 12v light mounted on the roof that shines up on the flag. It is an LED light and I even illuminate the flag when dry camping/boondocking.
Most people I observe in campgrounds flying the flag disregard lowering it at sunset or lighting it. And of course your not going to light it at night at a camp ground... right? :@
Whatever gave you the idea that they won't light their flag in a campground? I've been to a couple where people did that. In a well lit campground with street lights, no big deal. But one of these was at a county campground and that was the only light other than the one by the toilets. I'm sure he felt super patriotic but I found it annoying.
We have several small flags that we put by our campsite wherever we camp. Our grandkids love poking them into the ground and watching the wind move them. Does it make anyone anymore patriotic--probably not, but it does show their love for our flag and what it stands for.
