Great Cross-Country Trip!

No complaints about this one compared to the last one where we found 3 of 4 tires on the 5vr just before they blew out.

Decided to take my oldest on a "High School Grad Victory Tour" to see family in South Carolina During June. Drove the 5vr from Minot, ND to Florence, SC and back but we took the long way! None of us had been to Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama so we dropped straight south. From ND down to TX and then across the bottom of the US to SC.

We took a week to get down, had two weeks there and a week to get home. This is the only way, 6 hours of driving MAX per day and enjoy the sights, food and scenery!

No blown tires and averaged about 12 MPG the whole way on a round trip of about 4600 miles.

If you are on the fence about a long trip, I whole heartedly recommend it! Find some amazing campgrounds and see things out there. We tried to stay off the beaten path using State and US Highways instead of Interstates to see America. Two years ago, we took US 52 from Minot, ND all the way to Florence, SC (except in West Virginia!).

The best thing you can do and thanks to all here that convinced me it could be done. This will become a tradition for sure!

Good update report! Glad everything went well for you. Also glad to see someone else that doesn't mind driving non-interstate routes and taking the time to smell the roses, and enjoy the local sites, people, and culture.

Now remember, you can always do week-end camps nearby home and continue enjoying the lifestyle too!
