I bet you never do it again. I had a neighbor that was lazy lazy lazy and put off winterizing his trailer and had a tank split. He thought it would only be around $100 to replace, was he in for a shock.

You can squeeze the split together and weld it shut. I have a similar split in my HWH that someone had welded years before I got it. However, if you do that, when you get the welded tank back pressurize it with compressed air and then leak-check it with soapy water. I found a tiny tiny leak in my welded tank that the previous owner never bothered to redo (like so many other half-a___d "repairs" he did to the rig).

BTW you're not stupid, stupid, stupid... but rather careless, careless, careless... Big difference, there no fixing stupid!

Optical illusion. Looked like the NIKE swoop to me. However, I couldn't explain how come it was there.

Time to trade it in for a nicer unit. One without a split water heater. Was that an option?

look at it this way. You are not the one that invented that trick.

I bought one in AK once without checking the water tank. :R

This one is electric or gas. I think I will just replace the tank instead of the whole thing.

Look on the good side -- you can get a better WH, preferably one with both electric and gas.

My wife, Silver Cloud, has taught me to look at the bright side. So, here it is:

You'll never forget to drain it again!

Still sux, tho.

Congratulations! You've been cured. ๐Ÿ™‚

That's hilarious! (The cure, not the split ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Because of other travel plans during spring/early summer we did not get any camping in.

Its my water heater split. Almost 30 years of owning RV's and this is the first time I forgot to drain the water heater. I did everything else to winterize it but this. I just do not understand how I could overlook it. Im borderline OCD with the things I do.

NOPE...That is NOT it. Good guess though.

I'm thinking bladder aneurysm . Those are not wires they are nerves. Better call 911 quick. I know these things.
