Limiting factor on GVWR for trailer

This isn't exactly a towing question but not sure there was a more appropriate forum?

We noticed our trailer has axle ratings of 3000# each, so 6000# total. And the tires are rated for 1610# each, of 6440# total. The coupler is good for 1500# tongue and 10,000# trailer weight. Our trailer has a GVWR of 5500#.

When we weighed the trailer last time, hitched up, it was 4850#, so not close to the 6000# the axles could carry or 6440# the trailer could carry.

Wondering what is creating the limit of 5500# and why they didn't give this trailer a 6000# GVWR which seems to me would still keep it under the axle and tire limits.

For one, a call to Jayco is long distance for me. Last time I called Jayco they had me on hold for 42 minutes before I even got to speak to them. At 30 or 40 cents a minute, no thanks. Emailing has typically got me the, "call us and we can help".

And I wanted to have a discussion with other people about it. I figured this was similar for other brands as well and people may have looked into it already or know more about it than I do. Typically that's what Internet forums are for.

I agree with Old-Biscuit ... only the manufacturer of your trailer can give you the best and most accurate answer. Internet forums are fine for gleaning information for conversation sake, but since there is typically no "GROUND TRUTH" IMO it would be foolish to blindly fall into the "I heard it on the internet so it must be true" abyss.

BTW if you're paying 30 to 40 cents/min for your cell service you need IMO to update your plan since almost everyone now days has unlimited calling.

For total trailer weight, right. But the hitch weight isn't on the axles or the tires; only the 4850 is. So with a total trailer weight of say 6000, and a hitch of 800, you'd have 5200 on the axles and tires. Still room to play with the axle and tire ratings. But of course that puts you over the GVWR so something else must be limiting it.

What is the spring rating and the frame rating? Good chance some other equipment is causing the rating limit.

I know what you are thinking as my trailer has 3500 axles and 880 pin rating for 7880 GVWR.

Do you think the ratings would also be printed on those parts? I can look in the daylight tomorrow but I fear those things are hidden by my enclosed underbelly.

Because Jayco rates GVWR by the sum of UVW plus CCC

UVW...4,005
CCC...1,495

GVWR..5,500

Then I'm asking where the CCC comes from. Why not 1995? The axles and tires can take it. Because we all know that the trailer that shows up at your door isn't 4005#, so you're CCC isn't going to be 1495#. Why not give more if the components can take it. Something must be limiting it. Frame? Suspension? I don't know enough which is most important in determining CCC.
