Where's cheap place to buy one? Wally world had them for $25 a couple of years ago, now they want $40+. Ebay and the like are $45 to 60 with shipping. Who sells them cheap?

Price was $36 delivered to my door. Now I can reach the 30A outlet at my shop without parking the RV alongside the building.
You could have got it for $32, including shipping, had you looked around.

I paid about $150 for a 50 foot cord and a 25 foot cord. These may not have been the best deals going, but the fittings were well made with handles to pull them out easily, and never got even warm during heavy use.

The HF 25 foot cord looked OK to me for $31.
But what do I know..

Heres what it said on sheathing.
OD was almost 9/16. The following was stamped on cord.
UL plus C(UL)
SJTOW
3/C 10 AWG
60 degrees C, FT2, 300 V

$40 is inexpensive for that much cord today, and at that price the cord is probably cheap, in the quality sense.

They carry the 10/3 cord in 25, 50 and 100 feet.
But in cold weather may not be that flexable.

I carry a 25' 30A extension cord as well as 30A F to 50A M pigtail with me. When you need one or both, nothing else will do. I overnighted at a park in Canada that only had 20A and 50A on the post. And sometimes the 30A on the post is loose from use.

In my opinion, electrical cords especially when dealing with 30amp and 50 amp RV's, you should never go for the bargain basement type. You've got a lot of expensive equipment on board an RV and it's bess not to cheap out when buy electronics for it.

That's just my opinion.

That being said, WalMart has some quality brands. Poster RoyKen set me up with some advice on quality dogbones and extension cords.

I've been toying with the idea of making up 20, 30, 40, and 50 foot cords. When I do I'll use cord intended for low temperature use. It stays flexible below freezing. It would be cheaper to get the Walmart cord--but if you live where it freezes--watch out!

Hi Fred,

That's price gouging. In Canada the Michelins would sell for about $265 each (in June of 2013). I went with Toyo on the advice of the tire dealer for $225. Mine are 235/85R16 E. Canadian pricing of such items is often higher than in USA.

The price of copper has gone way up in the past few years.

Check out the price of tires lately. When I bought a pair of tires in 2005, they where $175, by 2007 $215 each, and now they want about $300 each for the all steel tires - Michelin 235/85R16E Rib.

Fred.

have you priced scrap copper lately??? Your new cord could quite likely be made of stolen property!

$35 shipped is a good deal. Used to be able to get them $1 per foot but no more.
