passport america trip routing

I'd appreciate input on Passport America's trip routing system. Does it seem to be RV friednly? Or is it just giving closest route, point a-b? What is the best Atlas to purchase that gives (or points out) RV friendly roads?

I have used it in the past. It works great for point A to point B, but, I had a very bad experience on a non RV friendly road it sent me on. To be fair, I should have re-routed myself when I saw the "not reccomended for vehicles over 40' in length" (I'm less) but, I didn't want to take the time to re-route. So now I always check a route against the truckers atlas. I just purchased RV Wizard (I will post a review another time) and found that it also had me going on a route that was not recommended per my truckers atlas. So, I would say, buy a truckers atlas, and whatever source you use, check the route against that

I've never used it for short distances, only 1000+ miles and then it uses Interstates. I like it as it lets you show PA CGs along the route.

I use the free app on Iphone "park advisor". It will locate all and every camp ground, truck stops, walmarts, etc etc etc..

Then when you find the camping spot hit navigate and your phone map will take over. Greatest app for traveling IMO..

Is their trip routing what you want to see? Don't let the tail...PA....wage the dog....YOU.

I have been a member of PA for 10 years but never used their trip routing so have no idea of its worth. We do use the Truckers Atlas available at most truck stops to verify if a road is compatible with 18 wheelers. If so we will certainly fit. The problem with it is that on many roads, especially near population centers, 18 wheelers are prohibited whereas we are not. We also have a RM 7720 GPS which, so far in three years and 10,000 miles) hasn't routed us on a road that couldn't handle us. Though there are some exceptions we have found that most US numbered highways are OK for us. We use a combination of these items as well as Google Maps/Earth to check our route before each day's trip. Knock on wood, so far we haven't gotten into a situation requiring us to unhook Libby to get out of it.
