Does Penn Fed still offer the cc that gives 5% off at the pumps? If so, do you have the web site giving the info?

Thanks -- I looked at the card in the link. It rewards POINTS not cash. Can you convert the points into cash that is applied to you credit card balance or much you use them to purchase items from a list of merchants?

Yep .... points is how we get the refund back.

We have PenFed send us a prepaid VISA gift card at the end of the year and use it for Christmas gifts or other expenses. This VISA gift card is usually for hundreds of dollars because we use the PenFed credit card intentionally throughout the year for almost all gas, all groceries, and almost everything else every month. We do it this way even though we try to pay the card balance off every month so as to pay little or no interest. We consider the accumulation of these points and the annual VISA gift card for them to be just like a savings account.

Thanks, I think I will get one of the same cards you have. I will keep my old PenFed (cash back) card as a backup.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Has PenFed re-started giving the 1% for everything?

This link explains the same PenFed Platinum Rewards VISA Signature credit card that I have:

We love our PenFed ... 5% gas/3% groceries/1% everything else ... card!

A few months ago (maybe more than a year) when I check my PenFed bill I saw that I was not getting the 1% back. I called PenFed and they said they no longer give the 1% back. So I started reusing my Discovery card for all purchases other than fuel.

Has PenFed re-started giving the 1% for everything?

CA, you got my attention so I went and pulled my PenFed Visa issued or affiliated with MOAA (military officers association of America).

It has Platinum Rewards posted on the front and also has the chip in it.

Our points accumulate, but in the old days they kicked back monthly. :h

If we want the money, it has to be requested and it comes in the form of a gift card.

PenFed have a number of credit cards. Talk to them about the "CASH Rewards" card. Link to Cash Rewards.

All kinds of CC cards and options. The PenFed Platinum card is 5% cash back off of the monthly bill. No accumulation of points.

Update: It's the Cash Rewards Platinum Visa card

We tend to let those penfed points build for special occasions like this spring when we are going to make a pilgrimage back to AK. I think the rental car price they have available is hard to impossible to beat and they offer one (Enterprise) that my insurance company covers all in case of an accident.

My kinda card!!

Google PenFed and you want the Cash Rewards Platinum card. You'll need a second account and I opened a $25 money market account.

Yes, I get 5% off of the fuel price every month and the card has to be swiped at the pump. I also use the Kroger points and GS Swipe & Save at Pilot/FJ for discounts.

Cash talks, 5% walks.

In my area - Best gas price (cash) beats the final price at stations that accept credit cards - by better than the 5% reward.

(That station accepts cash or debit, no credit cards)

Also, ditto Kroger.
Here - you must use Shell.
Better savings than the 5% 'reward' at Shell, by paying cash at the above station.

On the road - a CC with a reward, may be a benefit....ahhhh - reward..:C

At stations with a "cash" and "credit" price posted I have yet to be charged the credit card price when using a credit card at a station when I swipe at the pump. yes, they often list cash and credit prices, but again, never has it come up with the credit price when I swiped a card. So I swipe and get the 5%.

For an RV'er that wants to use their RV for general travel anywhere, anytime - 5% off fuel all over the U.S. and Canada beats any other way to buy gas.

We love our PenFed ... 5% gas/3% groceries/1% everything else ... card!

P.S. We also use another CC card for ATM withdrawals that waives fees on any ATM terminal anywhere.

Sorry about your Shell monopoly. In the Western states it's rare for a cash only station to be less that the 5% discount. But glad it works for you.
