QAV Wi-Fi Booster - Anyone use one?

On our new Forest River travel trailer there is a sticker on the window that says "This camper is prepped to upgrade to wi-fi." It says to go www.qavaftermarket.com for more info. The website doesn't give very good or very clear information. This antenna box is mounted up on top of the camper. So i'm guessing the antenna box is empty and they want $239 for the guts to make it functional. My question is...has anyone done this? If so, how well does it work?

There are many wi-fi boosters out there and many with lots of reviews. This thing has almost no presence on the web other than their own website. Kind weird.

I did not want the cradle either, so I opted for the Fusion2go

So how has it been working out for you? I have seen a lot of videos on the Weboost where you need to be within inches on the internal antenna for it to work good and was wondering what your experience shows

No they donโ€™t give them away. My DW can work a few half days online a week and make some bucks. I probably would not have bought it otherwise but Iโ€™m glad I did.

I had no idea it would mean the difference between barely loading Facebook vs streaming HD movies. Plus I could prolly sell it for half of what I spent.

Which model weboost did you get?

I got the Weboost X RV. Itโ€™s designed to mount to your ladder and be installed permenently so it boosts while you are going down the road. I donโ€™t use mine that way and I didnโ€™t want to drill a hole as Iโ€™m probably changing rigs this year.

So I put mine on a PVC pipe and put it up when I get there.

Now they make a Weboost RV 65 with a telescopic pole and a better antenna that I would get now.

They certainly don't give those away haha... But if you really really need one this looks like it fill the bill haha...

On my off-road POPUP trailer I have had good luck with my WILSON SLEEK Cradle with my VERIZON MIFI unit sitting in it. The WILSON cradle has a small outside antenna and my main use was to be able to run around outside my POPUP trailer for a good 50-100 feet or so and use my various CELLPHONE/TABLET devices... This allowed me to get on the internet using the Verizon Network...

This was a few years back and the VERIZON WIRELESS MIFI unit was only good for up to 3G connections...

Might be another avenue to look into for you...

Also check Fusion2go booster. I use in my truck and travel back roads and was continually not having signal. With the Fusion no problems so far.

Iโ€™ve gotten into the routine of doing a speed test of the wifi system when Iโ€™m in the office checking in. Itโ€™s almost always slow.

So a booster might help get it to that level of speed but it wonโ€™t make a slow system fast.
