Refridgerator Poll (sort of)

These questions are only for those who are able to store their RV at their house/property. (Not for those who use storage facility.)

Do you keep your refrigerator turned on or off during travel season?

If on & you live in warmer summer climate , do you leave a/c running if you leave fridge on?

We leave ours off but it sure would be nice to have it on with some staple foods in it.

Norcold 1200 and it's always on, whether it's parked in the backyard or we leave it at the lake (in Lousiana). BTW It's on its second cooling unit.

Off and door left open. RV fridges are quite energy-inefficient. I don't know that I would notice the cost of operating it, but the waste would bother me.

I turn it on a couple days before a trip to get it good and cold before putting anything in it. (We don't carry much food though - we buy it at our destination in order to save weight.)

Parked in Driveway. Fridge on during camping season May to October and stocked with condiments. Meat in freezer.

Shelf stable food in cupboards, and clothes in the bedroom.

Plus a full water tank.

We have a 30 amp plug on the house and leave it plugged in year round. Battery disconnected.

We just need to unplug, switch the batteries on and stop at Safeway for perishable groceries on our way down the road.

AC not on, but roof vents open. If I am working in it I will turn on the AC if needed.

mine is on 9 to 10 mounths a year..we are home couple times a year from 4 to 8 weeks

when not in use ours sits in our back yard where it is plugged into 50 amp service .... the only time our frig is turned off is when it needs to be defrosted .... when parked at home we do leave a Create-A-Breeze fan running on low during warm/hot weather, we only use the AC when working in the camper during hot weather

X2. Kept it from molding, especially in the winter. Would turn it on a day or two in advance to cool it off. We always had at least two weeks in between trips and couldn't see wasting the energy to keep it cool

Mine is plugged in about a week before camping season starts, around June 1 here. We leave it plugged in for the remainder of the season with food in it and ready to go for the next trip.

Same here-I never want anything but 12 Volt compressor type. When home I put a few charcoal chunks in a container, a box of soda and wadded up newspaper and the door slightly cracked open. Same for the 120 volt 1.7, I think, C.F. freezer. We turn it on 36 hours before departing on a trip.

we have a storage facility but try to leave the MH in our drive as often and for as long as we can get away with.

my first TT, we had it for over 20 years. we loved that TT and we left the frig on all the time. the frig never went out and I kept my spare beer out there. since then we have had two other TT's and we still let them run. I have one TT we are trying to sell and we have just left the frig off and the door open. be sure if you turn yours off, to leave the doors open or you will get mold like you've never seen before and hope to never see again.

We tend to use ours in spurts for long trips so when not in use, there is almost nothing in it. We load up for trips. It is plugged in but refrigerator is off, no ac, air it out for a day once in a while. MAKE sure that there is always water or antifreeze in toilet to prevent gasket drying out.

Photo below was taken this last winter, don't have an Spring photos of the new camper in the driveway. But you can see where we park the camper here.

Yes, we keep the refrigerator on 24x7 all year round. In the warm months we run the air-conditioner only when we're actually using it, which is quite often. Unless the temps reach the 90's or more, we don't need air. Where we live, there is always a breeze. Open all the windows and door and the camper cools down real fast.

We keep drinks in the refrigerator, especially since we sleep in the camper more than we sleep in the house!
