Ryobi leaf blower

I have a Ryobi leaf blower that's about two years old. The last couple of times I have used it I noticed that when I point it down, like when I'm blowing off the driveway, it will sputter like it's going to die. When I left it up, it corrects itself and runs just perfectly. Any suggestions as to where to begin looking for the problem? The fuel mixture is fairly fresh.

Thanks guys, you've given me some areas to check. Thanks Mod., I wasn't sure where to post the question.

i would start by cleaning the fuel tank and fuel pick up tube, along with the carb.

a lot of issues like this are caused by leaving gas in the carb and tank for extended periods of time, modern gas with the ethanol in it doesnt like to sit long before it gums things up

Does it do this, even when the fuel tank is full. It does sound like starving for fuel. After several leaf blowers, that I had starting issues with, and shutoff not working, I fixed the problems by getting a Stihl leaf blower.

I don't think you'll find the answer in the Technology Corner forum - Discussions regarding operation and technical aspects of the Web, computers, software, GPS, satellite TV, stereos and hi tech electronics for the wired RVer.

The fuel pick up hose is probably lodged in the tank, in a spot where it starves for fuel.
