Small Rooftop RV AC Ideas

I'm considering a rooftop AC for my small Truck Camper Resto-Mod after all. Two reasons, first - I do like to be cool when in some places that are too hot, and secondly, I have a three inch tear in my roof aluminum backwards from the left rear corner of the 14" vent opening. I was kind of thinking a roof air might be adapted to weather seal that tear. I'd like as low profile as possible, but reasonable price.

I know of the Coleman Polar Cub, or Mach-8 Cub I think it's called now, but I don't know of any other small AC options or reviews of the Cub.

I also really hate the loud noise and vibration rumble of the 13.5K BTU unit in our TT. I think the Cub is 9K BTU but don't know it's noise or vibration level.

Any thoughts on this matter?

Thanks guys, good to know.

westend, I'll check into the Eternabond tape. Is the window unit evaporative? Or real AC. What's do you use (brand model).

Typical roof-mounted A/C gaskets won't repair a roof tear. The gasket needs a firm support without any way for water to get under it. Eternabond tape would be my choice for roof repair and I'd investigate the possibility of a small 5K BTU window unit. A small window A/C will freeze you enough and may be easily portable for seasonal use. I have a window A/C unit mounted in my tent camper and it gets it cold enough to hang meat, even at 90f with 85% RH. The kids complain about the cold at night so I get up and turn it off in the middle of the night. By daybreak, the interior is back to ambient.

The Dometic units will cool even when the outside temp is 110+, the Coleman units are useless after it get to 96 or 97, the temperature starts to climb, the Dometic keep cooling all the way to 122+.

I know we had a Dometic and now we have Coleman, I wish we had known that before accepting the Coleman unit, it is hot were we are at the present.
