Suburban 3burner/stove combo

Not sure if this should've gone in the food/cooking recipe area or somewhere else so I can move it if needed. I recently bought a travel trailer a few weeks ago with a Suburban 3 burner (with twist burner spark)/ oven combo and have had nothing but trouble with it. The front burner sets off an alarm everytime...even just with a tea kettle on top. I am guessing this is because the overhead range doesn't extend far enough. The back left one will occassionally set it off as well. It takes for friggin ever to cook stuff on the burners. I wonder if the grate is too high. Even trying to cook a single egg in one of those mini 1 egg sized cast irons takes easily 7-10minutes. I have never seen a slower burner in my life. It takes 10-15 minutes to get a cup of water to boil. Finally I have only used to oven once so far but it smoked big time. From what I can tell you basically never want to put it over 350 (when I dialed it down from 400 I could instantly tell the difference) and even though I was able to cook my pizza it was great other than 2 (out of 6 the way I cut it)pieces were black on bottom but perfect on top. I am guessing these 2 bottom burnt peices are what smoked out my camper so bad. Does anyone have experience with this stove? I suppose I should know to rotate the pizza every 5 minutes or something like that...any input would help. So far I am of the opinion that this burner/oven combo is fairly worthless. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried turning on your exhaust fan when using that front burner? FYI.. we're not cooking on the pizza stone. We lay it on the solid metal rack above the burner. Just make sure you don't cover the holes.

I'm in Central Oregon outside of Sisters. I get pizza stones are awesome I just didn't know there were such hot spots compared to a oven with a coil. Also wish there was a way to use my front burner without setting off the alarms everytime. Usually happens within a minute even just trying to boil water.

Heck we even use a pizza stone in our gas oven at home. Bed,bath and beyond sells them. Also amazon. If your near Portland, look up one of the mexical tile stores and try to find a 12 inch unglazed floor tile. It will do the same thing. BTW where abouts are you

Thanks, good suggestions. I guess using a pizza stone is necessary for a propane oven vs one with a coil (I've never had to use a pizza stone before and have never had any problem in ovens I've had at houses). Good to know about the front burner vs rear ones. Although it is kinda dissappointing to know I need to use that one almost exclusively and will set off the alarm everytime.

You really really need to search for oven problems. Start with a pizza stone. That alone will make the oven work great. The front burner is the only high temp burner. The back two burners are low temp. You might take your trailer in and have the gas system pressure tested. If the regulator happens to be bad you might not be getting sufficient gas pressure to make the stove work correctly. We cook Papa Murphies pizza at 425 all the time with no problems. I have even done corned beef hash using a 12 inch cast iron skillet at times with great results.
