Towing questions, thinking of a TT

Been away from RVing for 4-5 years. Looking into getting another one.

A little background:
Our fist rv was a 1983 Reagal 28ft TT bought used. Since then we have owned four 5th wheels with the last being a Prowler Lynx (huge lemon!).

In the past my father pushed us into going with 5th wheels because of size and sway factors he had in the past. However, our first TT with a single sway bar towed well. Our last 5th wheel (lemon!) wouldn't track straight from day one.

I currently have a 20ft cargo trailer that I tow with toys and tools without an equalizer or sway control. Tracks perfect even in wind gusts.

Current truck is 2012 Dodge 2500 CCSB 4x4.

My wife and I are looking at a V-Cross Platinum 32vfks TT. Has best floor plan for us. Trailer weighs 7500 lbs dry, 11,300 lbs gross, with a 950 lbs tongue weight.

I still have my drawtite hitch, round weight bars, and sway control from the first trailer. All in good condition. Use the hitch with my cargo trailer.

I was thinking of just using two sway bars, but am wondering about the equalizer bars. 1,500 lbs just barely levels out the 2500 truck. I know on 5th wheels that the combination of high hitch weight and hitch pin near the rear axle is what combats sway. However, my father discovered recently that having the 5th ride high in the front (light hitch) makes the trailer sway like crazy (he just bought a new dually).

Any thoughts?

Ended buying a different trailer.

2012 Flagstaff 26FKSS front kitchen. Power everything! Even has 12v tank heaters and heated mattress.

Also decided to buy a re-manufactured Hensley Arrow hitch. Might as well do it "right" the first time. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been doing alot of research the past few days. I am leaning toward the Blue OX Sway Pro hitch.

The TT we are looking at is a V-nose 35 foot. Picked it because of the large front kitchen.

You're probably going to be at 1000lbs on the tongue easily with that TT. I would be looking at 1200lb bars. You need to be able to transfer weight back to the front when towing TT's. 5'ers don't remove weight from the front wheels. It's not about the rear sag.

while camping i yakked with a guy with a Very long trailer and said something to me that made perfect sense . He said :
"If you tow a conventional trailer with the same Heavy Duty specs as is required by a fifth wheel and use Very heavy tongue and a good equalizing hitch , the towing is pretty much the same . "
What this means in real life is that because a TT is generally lighter than a 5th , there is considerable reserve capacity for TT towing if one uses the Exact same TV as is required by the 5th .
Since then, I have been especially alert to long conventional TT's and their tow vehicle .
It seems to me that most are using too lightweight of a TV that is right at it's maximum tow capacity .
i don't like long trailers (or 5ths ) because we do boondock type camping in the national forests .
But i'm still snoopy so i do quiz fellas about how they like their setups .

The physics of 5th wheel vs. bumper pull TT are different. Both can tow very well.

I don't know what you mean by 1500 pounds barely level out the truck. I recommend a shiney new WDH with integrated sway control with that shiney new RV. 1400 pound bars seem appropriate. Check out the Reese Strait Line and Equal-i-zer 4pt systems. Read this and whichever model owners manual you buy on how to properly adjust the WDH. Then you will be pleased with how your truck tows.
