vinyl on inside of exit door cracking

Has anyone else had the vinyl on the inside of the RV exit door to start cracking. It appears that whatever the thin layer of vinyl is attached to is contracting and expanding causing the vinyl to crack. I would like to know if I can replace just the vinyl. I found the 4'x 8' vinyl sheets at Lowes. The vinyl comes in thin and thicker sheets. Any Info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you. A new door for mine would have set me back $700.00 at the factory. They told me they do not make the doors or the side panels for the slide. They purchase those from an outside source.

FINIDHED THE DOOR REPAIR TODAY! Only problems I ran into replacing the door vinyl skin was thinking I could use 1/8" vinyl instead of the 1/16" that the factory used. After cutting the 1/8" sheet which was $30., I found that it was too thick to fit into the frame. My door has an all steel frame so I could not adjust it. I had to purchase the 1/16" sheet vinyl. It fit perfectly. I also purchased the wrong glue, contact cement, which melted the Styrofoam core of the door. Fortunately I tried it on a small spot. The glue I needed was the glue used to put up foam board paneling, it worked good. Anyway the door looks new and I think I might have saved $400-$500, the price of a new door unit. I sure am proud of me today.

I have had the same thing happen to me. Yes you can rather easily replace the inner door material. There is little to nothing holding it there. It probably will be glued in a couple of spots. It generally is laid up against a foam filler in the door. I put some extra bracing in mine to make it a better more secure door. I also tore out all the standard Styrofoam filler and put in contractor grade. This really made a great door out of the junk they put on. I put treated wood in place of the soft scraps they used to frame the door. In short it is not hard to do and you will be glad you did. One more thing be sure you drill weep holes in the bottom.
