Water Filters

Is anyone using a better water filter other than the popular Blue Camco in-line water filter? I'm looking for something that is better that will make water cleaner and that will taste better but still isn't going to break the bank.

I installed a Culligan undersink filter in our motor home. It only filters the cold water to kitchen faucet. I will use it for drinking and cooking when hooked to city water, will not drink from storage tank.
I don't see a benefit of whole house filter, why filter shower and water to flush toilet?

For one my US Made Charcoal filter costs me $9.99 and I change it every 3 months full time use. I am betting your filter and system is much more money than mine.

I prefer everything to get filtered as it will keep all the crud out of the faucets and hot water tank ,making everything last longer.

I purchased the culligan filter for about 30.00 and replace cartridge once a year for 10.00, not a bad investment in good drinking water. If you don't mind spending 9.99 every three months to flush filtered water down the toilet, so be it.

I use these in my stick house for about 6 years, i have a 10 micron in front of it, they last for at least 6-10 months depending on the amount of water we use.

Bad reporting. It's a combo toilet and drinking fountain. potable water is supplied to the unit, drinking fountain is on top.

Not just bad, it is the fake news media pushing their agenda. The sad part is people believe this stuff.

The thing about dogs is that their digestive system is very different than humans and can tolerate things humans can't. They can eat rancid meat and even their own poop. Try eating your own poop, lol!!

They will sometimes drink water out of a toilet because it's cooler, oxygenated from flushing and can have less bacteria than water that's been sitting in a dirty dish for a day or two. Anytime our dog has a sip out of our toilet, I still go eeewww that's digusting... Some humans have recently been reported as having no potable water provided and being forced to drink from toilets. Now that is disgusting.

Home Depot whole house sediment filter, than a whole house carbon filter than an On The Go Water softener. Water is good everywhere now.

I can relate Jerry. We had a cat...God Rest her Soul...that when we got take out fish fries, we had to give her some. She would wine and meow like crazy until she got her share. Then one time the place we always got our fish from was closed so we got it from another place. It was terrible. I ate two bites and threw it away. Our cat.....Put her nose to the dish, turned her head and walked away LOL Animals are smarter than we give them credit for.

It's no secret that dogs will drink out of a pond or toilet or wherever. But will they drink out of those places if there's clean water right next to them? That's the question. I'm guessing that dogs will always choose the clean water. Whether it's from a Berkey or any other water filter system before they drink toilet or pond water.

My dog would most definitely drink from the green pond instead of the fresh clean filtered water. She's not a dumb dog, but always without fail prefers the worst available water option around her. Strange...

I'm among those here that don't filter my RV water at all, but use bottled water for drinking and cooking. The RV tank water is for showering and cleaning. Oh, and the dog bowl.

Since this thread has gone to the dogs, I have to tell about my spoiled little pocket puggle in sig pic. She has never known what it is to be really thirsty, so is very picky with her water. At a friends house, she chased his much bigger dog all over the yard, (yes she is a little bully as well) till his dog was thirsty enough to go drink from the bird bath. He wanted to get a dish of water for her, and I said she won't drink tap water from a strange dish. He laughed got it anyway, nope she wouldn't drink it. She wants cold water from the fridge, preferably from a brita pitcher. She will drink ice cold water from my hand when needed.

I'll just say...only child/pet...you know how that goes!! ๐Ÿ™‚

One of the stupidest RV videos I've seen, and part of the continuing trend of for-profit RV advice sites trying to drive people to their monetized YouTube/web site.

The couple in this video appear to be above board by admitting they accepted "free" water filters and systems from several commercial sites. However, their claim that they weren't influenced by these freebies is BS as their favorite purification system is the most expensive and selected because their dog likes the water.

The couple's water "research" appears to be limited to Google searches of water contaminants which appear in a fast scroll list during their video. Wow! So cool.

Also, their water filter system research appears to be limited to what they were given.

Finally, I don't think they understood what each system was filtering. Their evaluations seemed to be primarily based on (A) Ease of use (B) American made (C) Information the seller provided.

Their final test -- did their dog drink the water?

You betcha.

Like my wife just said: A dog will drink out of a toilet.

There's another RV marketeer (who I will not mention) who does the same Berkey dog endorsement:

"Our dog Lincoln drinks nothing but Berkey water"

Is this part of Berkey's marketing strategy? Yikes

My FW came with a single Flow Pur canister whole house filter system. It is mounted in the basement and plumbed so all water(city or tank)has to pass through. I sanitize in Spring and drink from the tank all camping season. I get my replacement filters from the RVwaterfilterstor.

These type canister filter systems are not expensive, but getting to the plumbing, to make it whole house, may be a bit of a challenge.
