"Help 'Em Up Harness" is a product I saw on the news this morning.

It is for dogs who have trouble getting up off of the floor in a laying down position to an upright position. Looks to be a helpful item to help some doggies get up.

When my 13 year old Border Collie was unable to stand without wobbling and could not go up stairs I did the humane thing and put her down. Man Up when the time comes.

One of my dogs is a three-legged lab. The original owner backed his car over him when he was about three months old and then dropped him at the vet to be euthanized. The vet tech called my daughters to see if we could provide round the clock nursing care if they amputated his front leg. We said we would and the vet paid for the amputation and repairing the other front leg. He was such a wonderful dog that we kept him. He was the only thing my ex and I couldn't agree on when we divorced. She got custody, but Trooper didn't like her new husband and she gave him to me. She still drives 250 miles to come visit him.

There are a lot of new drugs to treat arthritis in dogs and they really work. I've used Remedyl and Previcox on my dogs and it works wonders. One of my dogs is a four year old Rottweiler and could barely walk when we started him on Previcox, fish oil and Cosequin. He can actually run now. We also used Remedyl on an old lab and it kept her going for 14 years.

Two of my sisters are professional dog handlers and my daughters run the local animal rescue (ARC of Bay County) and we see a lot of animals with joint issues. Take your dog to a good vet and they might be able to prescribe something that would really improve its quality of life.
