Pet Licensing?

I'll soon (2 months) begin full-timing. Just myself and 2 dogs. I keep their shots up and have them licensed in the Houston, TX area. Once I begin my big adventure, I don't intend to return to TX other than to visit friends. I'll establish South Dakota as my State of Residence. What does one do about the annual license requirement of most states?

Thanks,

Mike

The only thing we were concerned with was keeping our dog's vaccines up to date and keeping her rabies shot/tag current.

We kept all her records and when anything was due even rabies we just used a local vet or Banfield Clinics (inside some Petsmart Stores).

We didn't bother with 'license'.......never a problem
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I also had our dog chipped, just in case.
Maybe SD has a similar program?

That's a good deal ... kinda like the lifetime Michigan license for my TT 🙂

In Michigan, the licenses are sold by the County but mandated at the State level... most states in our union follow English Common Law, so South Dakota will probably be similar.

Visit the county courthouse for the county in which your permanent mailing address is (as per social security / irs) and see how they handle licenses. For example, the State of Michigan recently started selling 3-year licenses.
