Sebastians eye

The Dogs went to the Groomer today. They said all went well. About an half hour after we got home I noticed something on one of Sebastian eyes(left). It looked to me maybe like goobers or something only it was on the lens. After opening and closes his lid the spot didn't move.

I was looking up on it and according to the pictures I found it looks just like a cataract. (never seen this before so Im really am not sure).

Anyways the other eye looked okay(right). Just checked it again(left) about 4hrs later and it seems to have disappeared, but now the other eye(right) also has a small cloudy spot on it.

He will go to his vet tomorrow if it is still there. DH thinks it might have gotten scratched from grooming, but now since both eyes are like that Im wondering, if it is cataracts.

Sebastian is a very cute Cocker Spaniel around 7 years old. 🙂

Well it has diappeared as misteries as it came. It must of been something from the grooming. We will keep an eye on him , to see if we noticed it again..
Thanks everyone....

I've had some cockers get scratches and/or abrasions on their corneas. I never knew how they got them. I watch them like a hawk. But there's also glaucoma, in addition to the cataracts. And dry eye. If they have dry eye and it's not treated, the cornea will develop a darkened pigment and the dog can go blind over time. Hopefully it's something simple. I'm curious to the outcome, & would appreciate knowing what the vet says.

Hmm maybe it is from grooming, last night when he came in from out side, (it was still light out) I noticed it again in the left eye. It is larger in that eye than in the right eye.
We have been checking him all day today and haven't noticed it.

A little background, when we had Maggie she was going blind and there were days her eyes were very cloudy and other days they looked normal.

Because I was used to that, when we First got Sebastian about 3 months ago, I thought I noticed a little cloudiness in his eyes. Well my Vet ck his eyes twice and she said she didn't see anything.

Im wondering is it possible for something to come and go in the bright sunlight.

This is frustrating. I certainly hope it not cataracts. Thanks for the info we will definitely keep our eyes on him.

Many groomers put some type of ointment in dogs' eyes before grooming to protect them from shampoo and floating hairs. Is it possible you were seeing the remains of that?

Strange, but that's true, cataracts don't come and go. I would think maybe a little reaction to the type of shampoo or conditioner they used, a bit of mucous in his eye, maybe. You might need to put some protective drops in his eyes before grooming, next time. Good to have the vet look at it, though.

Cataracts won't go away. If it's actually disappearing (versus you don't see it from a different angle), then it's not cataracts. Cataracts also wouldn't switch from eye to eye.

I think the visit to the vet is a good idea. Hope it ends up being something simple.
